Scrotal trauma is uncommon and usually results from either a direct blow to the scrotum, or some kind of straddle injury. Damage will probably occur when the testis, or scrotum, is directly and forcefully compressed against the pubic bones. Of course, spectrum of injuries may occur. Scrotal trauma can also be result of intratesticular hematoma, hematocele or laceration of the tunica albuginea. Tunica albuginea is scrotal protection puttee. Color Doppler ultrasonography is imaging technique of choice for getting diagnosis. In serious scrotal injuries, surgical referral is required because testicular rupture requires immediately drainage and repairing. Also for each patient who complains of acute scrotal pain and swelling testicular torsion must be considered. That is surgical emergency. Ordinary trauma generally does not require immediate surgical intervention.
Also, you could call your doctor to see what he/she says, if he’d like you to come in right away or you can wait few days more.
