I had back surgery about 7 years ago and the same thing happened to me. My penis decreased by about 1 inch or more and won't get erect. I have taken viagra and Calais and neither helps. My primary doctor said it maybe blood pressure medication or testosterone treatment that could be the cause. My penis would get erect even when my back was hurting real bad now nothing. My grandsons penises are larger than mine and they are only 5. Yes I put on pounds after surgery and has been heavy but, muscular now I'am looking for my penis.

TOTALLY agree with you. Then what's the point of going for corrective surgery when they can't even get the first one right without screwing something up.

Yes, I, also have experienced the same thing. I've had 2 separate inguinal hernia surgeries. First surgery was a double hernia on my right side and the second surgery was a single hernia on my left side. The single hernia on my left side gave me complications due to the surgeon getting too rough with the sp ermatic cord creating a hydrocele (like a water blister) inside my scrotum which felt like at times someone was kicking me in the balls most of the day. Pain from hell in other wards.Had to have another surgery and pay for the removal of the hydrocele. After that surgery is when I started noticing the penis shrinkage. I was 50

I too have been dealing with this same problem. I had emergency appendectomy, and the very next day, penis is an inch or so smaller, no blood flow, and no errections. They can be forced by taking cialis or by injection. But I want my urologist to tell me WHY I can't get one on my own, and why it occurred immediately after surgery. I have been to my primary care doctor several times and seem 3 different urologists. It's been 4 years and they all say it's in my head and I should see a sex therapist. I wanted to have a NPT test done to see if I get errections while I sleep which is supposed to determine if the cause is physical or not, but my urologist says that the test is outdated and they don't perform it any longer. I'm going to get a new urologist who WILL perform the test because I know it has to be physical

I two had penile shnkage after having surgery on my back. To remove a cancerous mass from my spine. As soon I awoke from surgery I could feel and see that it was starved of biood. I knew that they cannot do anything to reverse what has been done. So did not say anything about. That is why the doctors act like your crazy because they know they messed up. Get medication that relaxes your blood vessels what helped alot for me was a side effect that was benificall to restoring blood was my channel blocker (lisinopril) for high blood pressure. Also a central nervous system relaxer like Valium or adivan. Adivan is best for daytime use not as dopey. Then sue your doctor. Good luck.

Guys I am having similar issues though I haven't even had the surgery yet. Just went to a urologist this week and he discovered hernias on both sides of my groin. I've had some pain and soreness in the area for a while now...along with some incontinence and urinating problems. My penis has shrunnken noticeably over the last year. I've never been porn star endowed but I've also never been embarrassed by my size. I used to be over 6.5 inches....now I'm barely 5 erect and flacid I'm down to almost nothing. It still works, but I can't be satisfying my girlfriend anymore as it definitely has an affect on my performance. I don't see it getting any better from here. And after reading this thread, I'm going to put off the hernia surgery indefinitely. Very depressing. Good luck to the others on here going through similar issues.

Mine has shrunk in the past years too but I've been blaming it on that number on my birth certificate also known as old fart's syndrome. It's more like a very large clit now. The source of the typical jokes at the old men's coffee table when you head for the head. Want to borrow my magnifying glass? Tie a string on it so you can find it, etc. Sure hope I never need any surgery, I'll have only a hole left. But then I'll be able to use the new trans-gender rest room.

First of all genital stimulation etc should not affect who youa are with. My wife no longer can sexually satisfy me because her vagina is messed up (for multiple peraonal reasons) yet I would never ever even wish to act like that is a problem. It makes me sick you would say you "need" that....

I'm very sorry to all who are dealing with this problem. I am 3-weeks out from Laproscopic bilateral inguinal hernia repair and was extremely concerned about a tightening sensation and shrinkage in my genitals. My theory is that blood vessels can get slightly pinched going through the slit(s) in the mesh. One slit for each testicle. I found gentle massage of the area 2-3 inches above and slightly towards the hip seemed to allow normal blood flow to return. I pray this is not just a temporary fix and I am going to pick up some type of personal massage device today.
If they would have mentioned this as a possible side-effect, I NEVER would have had this surgery UNLESS it was LIFE THREATENING (even then, I would have to think about it!). There is no doubt that massage increases blood flow, so I really hope this helps. And I also said and will continue to say countless prayers, which also helps.
