I had a problem quite a few years ago when my jaw under my ears would start to swell and then I would get purple lips with horrible stinging, palms of the hand and bottom of the feet turn red and horrible stinging. I could not walk and had to crawl on my knee's. I could not pick up the phone to call 911. My throat would start to close off, my chest felt like it had a weight on it. My heart would beat faster and I felt as though I was going to pass out. It would last around 30 minutes from start to finish. Once the left side swelled and then never went down. I ended up having surgery to take the begine lump out. Now, several years later it is happening again on the right side. It has not swelled and stayed swollen. It has continued and is getting closer together for the attacks. It is only when I try to eat. Sunday night (2 nights ago) I went to eat my steak dinner and salad. Within about 3 mouthfulls it started to happen. The swollen gland, the lips, hands, feet, my chest got heavy, my throat began to close off and I had to hold on to the counter and FOCUS on NOT PASSING OUT. During this time and this was the first time this symptom has presented but, I have a red brick wall in the dinning area and when I looked at the wall the bricks were each their right color however, the morter that holds them together turned electric physadelic blue. Yeah just like being on Acid but, without the fun. Not to say that this did not ring my alarm bells overtime. So, the next day I set about schedueling a CT Scan and an appointment with ENT. The first time they did surgery becasuse, the gland did not go down. This time I don't know what they will do since the gland is not constantly swollen but, I can't deal with this surreal, terrifing and totally uncomfortable attack. I am usually completely drained afterward and can't finish eating for fear of this happening again. Once I had 2 consecutive days that every time I started to eat it would happen but, without the light show. Suffice it to say I was pretty hungary by the time I was able to eat again. I don't know if this is what they call Angioedema but the problem by anyother name is just as uncomfortable and terrifying when it happens. The light show was a call to arms for me. Has any symptoms like this ever been reported by anyone or am I the only one?
