Hi, About 3-1/2 years ago, I felt what I thought was a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck (under my ear). I went for an ultrasound (it was negative). About two years ago, my dentist suggested that I have a CAT scan w/out contrast (also negative). I then went to an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor, who told me I had a blocked salivary gland. (It's a bit more painful after I eat.) He suggested applying hot water to it and sucking on lemon drops to try to unblock it. I tried both, but still have it.
I'm confused as to what it is. After the tests came back negative, I didn't think there was anything to worry about.
Thanks.

Thank you for your comment, however, the problem is still ongoing. I had submandibular gland removal over 10 years ago. The swelling has been ongoing for over 4 years. On a recent ultrasound, the swelling was extensive & painful. The radiologist has determined it is a cyst. After the report the ENT decided to look by inserting a scope down my nose to look at my throat. Thank God for lidocaine or whatever anesthetic he sprayed in my nose or I might not have let him look. He spent more time spraying an anesthetic in my nose than he did looking in my throat. After his quick look, he proclaimed that the radiologist was wrong. Like I have said in my previous comment, at times the swelling is more noticeable as well as painful. My PCP has sent me to several ENT & 1 even thought I had a paraganglioma, because my carotid artery can be visibly seen pulsating. However, none of the specialist have offered advice or treatment.
