I had a total thyroidectomy six years ago and i've never been the same.  The doctors or consultants never explained the aftermath it would cause. Even the macmillian nurse who saw me just after I was diagnosed spent no more than 30seconds with me and that was it saying im here to help. I was doing extremely well in my new job, the client I was working for even asked me to take on the position with them as a permanent employee however once diagnosed with thyroid cancer soon back tracked as they knew so much about it being a professor of nuclear medicine and having just completed research on the subject!! Having been a professional in my job am now on benefits. I have been left suffering from severe depression (drs had the bare faced cheek to say it had nothing to do with my thyroid and wanted to refer me). Damaged saliva glands again the consultant at a renown cancer hospital said it was just a little plumbing issue and not side effects of radio iodine hence I underwent months of painful dye tests on my glands. The very same consultant raised my thyroixine level to lower my tsh level but never explained the dangers and side effects yet very cleverely said in her letter that she did. I mean how much can you explain in a 20second check up.  One dr joked with me when i told them the symptoms.. said that it was like coming of crack....  my normal dr who i am refusing to see now had the barefaced cheek when i was on  my knees and in constant tears for months said that it was for benefit purposes!!! despite him being the one who first told me that I could have had taken a clot in my brain and collasped with the high dosage of thyroxine, I could tell so much more but would only advise those with a worry that they may have something to seek help from a professional herbalist (who are totally against removal of body parts as a way of healing) firstly before getting caught up in a world of madness. As i know now a cut will heal itself if properly managed
