I am trying to be the best parent, as much as possible, since I am a single parent and work long hours. I have been told that sleep disorders in overweighted kids can induce several health problems and that really frightened me because my son does suffer from obesity. What can be done?

Well, the problems caused by obesity might easily be eliminated by loosing that extra weight. But the problem with short sleep is that it increases the appetite, because of the sleepiness which requires sugar for staying awake. Perhaps some physical activity might be very beneficial for him, he would loose weight and tiredness will make him fall asleep easily.
