so this has been going on for a long time...i lost my virginity when i was 17, i am now 20, and i thought that the smell(very strong, other people can smell it through my clothes! people ask who farted...)/discharge (yellow, sometimes thick, usually WATERY and warm, like i just started my period, usually right before and right after my period it's the worst) was just from having sex...but im starting to rethink that...the smell has gotten worse and i have made an appointment with my dr. i think it may be trichomoniasis. i have been too embarassed to talk to my doctor or anyone about it, untill my mom was talking about something she had when she was younger (she couldn't remember the name)...my mom is very open with me :-)...they were the exact same symptoms i was having, so i hope it is something like trich, i have done alot of research, and its pretty curable! does anyone know if it can be transmitted through birth, she said she had me before she had gotten it taken care of... i am very embarassed about this. please help...

Yellow vaginal discharge for FOUR YEARS? And it smells bad, too?
I understand that it is very embarrassing for patients to see their doctor about a potential sexually transmitted disease, but the doctors themselves have seen it all before. Every day, actually. The thing with STDs is that they have a higher risk of leaving permanent consequences the longer they go untreated. The only thing I can say is thank God you finally made an appointment and I hope it turns out to be OK. For everyone else who is reading, please don't let something like this go on for years. See your doctor as soon as you know something is wrong.

o.O this is very crazy to have had a chance to see your thoughts on this because I've been suffering from the same thing and I've been so embarissed of itt so I've never spoken a word about it but have asked doctors if im normal in that area,and I've allways got the same answer stateing that I was very healthy and have nothing to worry about....allthough I new this is something,please if you have any info about this lett me know im so sick of the embarisment.......thank you

I went to the dr and told her that i did think it was trichomoniosis. but she tested for it, and it came up negative, she said i just had bactirial vaginosis. i got a prescription for metronidizol (flagyl) and it cleared up the 3rd day of use! im all better now! my advice, GO to the dr. its not an std, its just an overgrowth of the good bacteria in the vagina. just tell the doc ur symptoms, trust me, they have seen worse! lol
