Tamari, miso, tempeh and fermented tofu (...) are fine.
I assume that the phytodiddledah (sorry, poor memory) reacts with other components produced during fermentation, rendering it inactive.

I thought that the soy milk would help my hot flashes! Just the opposite happened. They got much much worse and increased to about 30 a day including night sweats. I stopped drinking soy milk last week and now I am only getting 2-3 a day and only waking up 1 time during the night . I am only 45 years old but going through early menopause symptoms. I think I will drink almond milk from now on!

I don't use soy often but when I do now I notice night sweats. I make a pumpkin pie that use 1 1/2 cups of plain soy milk. this caused night sweats each day I ate it. Going to use coconut milk next time.
i am well into menopause and rarely get night sweats. So the soy connection here was easy to see.

Reply to Leticia about soy milk causing hot flashes. Yes, yes, yes, I have been experiencing the vicious return of hot flashes which had practically stopped before I started drinking soy milk. Am going to switch to almond milk and see what happens.

I got into eating Edamame 4-5 days a week for a couple of weeks about a year ago and started getting bad flashes. Stopped that and they went away. Recently I started getting bad flashes and not sleeping well. I realized this morning I had been eating Protien rich Cherrios.
When I looked at the label, saw that Soy Prtein and Soy flour were in the first 5 ingredients. Think this may be the culprit. No more of this cereal for me. Hope that is the answer.

I thought I was crazy because soy is supposed to help with hot flashes, but I swear they tripled for me when I started drinking soy milk! Thanks to evveryone for these posts..

I have been on a whole food plant based diet for six weeks and have lost 14 pounds. I introduced tofu in a few of my receipes this past week and noticed I started having mild hot flashes, which I thought I was over the more intense episodes for good. From what I have found out, it appears soy based products are not for me.

i am 63 and menopause is long time come and gone but find recently i have been having hot flashes only in the morning when i first get up- checked with the MD and found my thyroid is fine. then it occurred to me that i do drink more than a half gallon of Soy vanilla milk a week.. and wonder if that could be the culprit. i am going to restrain from the soy milk for the next month and see what happens..or better yet- what hopefully doesn't happen.
