I use Soy milk daily to make porridge in the mornings. I am 63 years old and had virtually said goodbye to hot flushes. Recently they are back in force. I am beginning to think they are caused by the Soy milk. I am not going to use it for a while to see if they stop.

I noticed that whenever I eat Special K breakfast cereal has soy in it. Then my hot flashes are worse.

Perhaps soy must be organic or nonGMO. American soy (milk) may not be the same as what is being created in Asian countries.

Thanks for the tip. Special K is my fave. For the past two weeks I have been eating with Organic Original Soymilk. There is no soy on the Special K: Original Toasted Rice Cereal ingredients label? There is carrageenan in the soymilk however. This is a recognized as carcinogenic.

I recently started taking an oral skincare product called Imedeen. My night sweats have become intolerable after taking the product for only a week and I had no idea why. Then I did some research. The tablets contain a high concentration of soy. No more Imedeen for me. And they are so expensive too. A warning for anyone considering buying them!

The problem with most plant-based "milks" is that they have little to no protein.

I have definitely found a correlation between consuming soy and my hot sweats worsening.

I had an increase of hot flashes and the only item that I had changed in my diet was the addition of soy milk. I stopped drinking the soy milk. In two days the hot flashes decreased dramatically.

Me TOO! I've been scouring the internet and this is the first time I've found anyone who is having the same issues as me with soy and other phytoestrogenic compounds, like Sage and Black Cohosh. My integrative doctor said I should try these--after I tried every other herbal/alternative remedy for the llast year. I was afraid of the cancer risk, but the hot flashes, mood swings and poor sleep were realy becoming a quality of life issue. So I drank one carton (a quarter gallon) and drank a few cups of cooling sage tea for one week. Sweating was AWFUL! Hot flashes were more frequent, more intense and MUCH more sweaty. So glad I'm not alone!

Is there any research or evidence that suggests that there is a link between caffeine use and the escalation of hot flashes?
