Hi there all. So I had Mirena inserted the first time in 2007 after my son was born. After about a year on the Mirena, my periods completely stopped. When my son turned 5, I had my Mirena replaced since it was the five year mark. Same thing this time, no issues and no periods. Now I'm in my fourth year, second time around with it and I woke up this morning with cramps and spotting. I freaked out, is this normal I mean I haven't had as much as a single spot since I started using the IUD... Why all of a sudden? I read online that Mirena can start losing its effectiveness in the fourth year. Does anyone know if this to be true? I made an appointment for two days From now and was just wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences with this? Thank you.
