I was on the pill for 11 years and since I’ve went off it 3 months ago I have gained so much weight. I’m so bloated all the time. It’s uncomfortable and I feel gross. I just started taking it again. I hope I go back to my normal self soon.

Going through the same thing! Was on yaz and then the generic Version of Yaz since 2010, recently decided to get off BC Nov 2017. I’m currently training for a figure competition too so I do all the right things as far as Nutrition and training, and I’ve gained 13lbs since stopping the pill. Going to get my blood work done this week and hope to get some answers. I’ve heard some women can take 3months to a year to get back to normal. It’s crazy

someone once told me Yasmin/generics had a built in diuretic in the sub ingredients. I went off it and gained and had horrible mood swings. I suspect the pill for 20 years just covered other imbalances. I gave it 4-5 months and went back on it. In about 6 months my weight stabilized.

You most likely have PCOS and either need to go back on birth control or metformin if you want to get pregnant. I had the same thing happen. Gained 50 pounds in a year and a half while eating mostly healthy and working out all the time after going off birth control, terrible acne, and my depression got worse and worse. Being on birth control for many years and then going off of it suddenly exasperated my PCOS symptoms. I never even knew I had it. Anyhow my doctor put me back on birth control and I'm able to lose weight again and have (although I've always had to work at it). The bloating stopped and the big pouch on my stomach went away too. What an awful experience that I surely don't wish on anyone. It's the worst feeling in the world to diet and to continue to gain weight and feel like your headed for obesity when you do everything right.

I am 43 years old and had been on bc since I was 18. I recently quit taking it, maybe 6 months or so ago, because I feel like it may not be good for me to be on it that long. Well, I have had more issues since I quit than I ever did taking them for 24 years. The weight gain has been miserable......a good 25 pounds in such a short time. I can't fit into any of my clothes. I count my calories, eat a very healthy, mostly organic diet, no soda/pop or sweets, exercise 4-6 days a week (HIIT and 60 min on the treadmill a day). The weight just keeps piling on and nothing I do is helping. I asked my doctor about hormonal imbalances and she sent me to get my metabolism checked. For a 43 year old, I found out I have a great resting metabolism. So, it goes back to my hormones. My only option at this point is to go back on the pill. Anyone else out there that has been on the pill for as long as I have that can offer me any advice?

I been on the pill since I was 18 now 30 and decided to stop taking it. For the last year and half I was changed over to cerrelle from cerrezette. I became very depressed anxious, really bad tempered, no motivation and very fatigued no matter how much sleep I got. Over Christmas it hit me really bad i felt like I was going crazy so I decided to come off it as doctor was no good and just told me to keep taking along side anti deoresseants! So I started some reasearch and it all looks like it was connected to the pill, Iv been off it for 2 weeks now my mood has lifted but still getting a few days! But like everyone else I feel so heavy my weight is going up even thou I go gym regularly and eat no different to when I was on the pill and managed to loose 2 stone. I started bleeding 2 days ago I know it will take a little while for my periods to regain some normality.

Has any one stayed oif the pill and got back to normal? If so how long did it take? i can’t go on the pill again as I can’t find one that doesn’t put me in to a depression or set of my anxiety!

I get married next year and can’t be putting on weight like this please help!

I am in a similar boat... I was on the pill for 10 years and stopped about 5 months just to give my body a break. When I was on, my period was extremely regular, but so light that I was convinced (despite my Doctor’s re-assurance) that it just wasn’t normal, so I decided to give my body the break. There have been a couple of pros: my hair feels healthier and has been falling out less; I feel less depressed; my complexion is brighter. But there are definitely cons as well: weight gain; light acne that comes and goes; hair loss increase around ovulation; irregular period. I am going back on to the pill as of today. I suppose going back on is like a shortcut to address the cons I have been experiencing while off of it, but for me it makes sense because I don’t see myself having kids any time soon. Also, it makes more sense for me to go back on and try natural remedies to address the cons of being on the pill... I don’t regret taking the break, because I somehow feel like my body will be more receptive to the benefits of the pill, now that I’m back on. So I would suggest that you just weigh the pros and cons, but listen to what your body is telling you... :)

Hey! This exact thing is happening to me and I'm thinking that going back on the pill will make me drop the weight back off, I'm freaking out as I've never had a weight issue until stopping b/c. Did you wait until after a natural period to take it again or just straight into it?

Hi, I was just wondering if you had any success with going back on the pill? I am in the same situation and I am not sure what to do

I too have had the same problems as most ladies on this forum. I haven offit for over one year and I am now going back on it. Severe mood swings, bloating, weight gain, sugar cravings which I haven’t had for ten years since being on Yasmin. I can’t wait to get back on it

I'm so glad I found thus fourm! I had been taking birth control since I had my youngest almost 4 years ago. Stopped taking it on November as I felt my moods were all over the place, no sex drive and just sick of having to remember taking the pill every day. Since stopping it I've gained 10-15 lbs and literally look like I'm pregnant (but I know I'm not). I thought maybe it was just me going through this but so glad to see that I'm not the only one. Not sure if this forum is still running but I would love it if anyone had any answers or if things will get back to normal eventually. I really don't want to go back on the pill!
