I did myo-fascial release and it loosened considerably. I made sure it was someone who specialized with working with scars. It's still pulling somewhat now, but I don't notice really anymore - it is still somewhat visible. But the myo-fascial release diminished it for sure. The internal scarring is what causes the pulling. A surgeon told me it's not worth going in to fix it because you can't control where the scarring goes and it could make it worse. I just live with it and honestly forget about it most of the time. People don't really notice it. It's not something I think of much anymore although it's not completely back to "normal."

I had thyroidectomy 10 weeks ago and I have the exact problem you described. Did you have the incision opened up & detach the muscle? I would really appreciate your feedback.

Yes I am. I have regular blood tests and make sure I don't forget to take my medication.

. What u wrote is exactly how I feel. It's like I was reading something I wrote about my self. I am so stressed because I feel like I'm chocking to death! And at times it's worse then others. I'm afraid to eat anything that's not liquid. And the dizzyness has impacted my life greatly! Only thing else I have to add is I'm nauseous often. Can u please tell me how long it took for this all to go away? And how are u now?

Have they checked your parathyroid gland. You may need caltrate and calcitrol medication if damaged. Mine was damaged so I don't make or store calcium in my body so I take it daily with my thyroid medication.
With the stiffness don't try to bend it or that it takes time to heal and can't force it. Allow 4 weeks for that. With the swallowing demand blood test and check both levels. Good luck. Let me know how you go. Roz

I'm having the same problem you described. Did you go back to the surgeon to have it fixed? Or the "skin pulling" goes away by itself? I'd really appreciate your feedback.

How are you now? Had thyroid removed 3 mo ago. Feels like mucus lump in throat that has been sprinkled with chili powder. Miserable. Endo said I just need to take smaller bites and chew food better and surgeon said doesn't have anything to do with them. Go see ENT. ENT stuck a camera through my nose. Says throat is swollen and my mind has convinced me it's bothersome. Says I probably have always had acid reflux. So I'm over 50 and apparently have never known how to eat and never knew I was miserable with reflux. What a joke. ENT put me on steroids. Another joke and did nothing. I wish miserable before but I'd take that over this stiff with my throat any day. Someone suggested mucinex (notDM) I'm going right now to get that. But if you've got suggestions.....

Had my surgery 12/19/17 and I'm actually relieved knowing that everyone else has or is going through what I am because I was paranoid daily. Neck feels right and I found it difficult to swallow normally due to the tightness in my neck. Also the appearance of lumps in my throat near the incision area that I know wasn't there before the surgery. I still have a light amount of pain with the actual incision star although very slight still disturbing. I feel great, other than what I think is paranoia because of the after surgery feel so I'm just going to take one day at a time see what happens in the future! This post was extremely helpful and very insightful!

No problem. Just make sure that the levels are correct for your medication and don't forget to take them. It does have an effect on how you feel if forgotten which I have done and paid the price for it.

Hi,
I know this is a lat post, but I'm just now seeing this. I'm having the same exact sympotoms as you were having. Had a TT 8/17/17 due to multiple suspicious ndules. Have you had any relief from your symptoms yet?? If so, what did you do for relief? These symptoms are horrible!!! Wish I would of known about theses possible side effects before I decided to have the surgery....might of had second thoughts.

I could have written your blog myself. Sure can't wait until this is all over. It has been a traumatic experience for ME. And I am still going thru it! I feel exhausted all the time. I tingle. I am so depressed that I could just stay in bed and never get dressed. My neck and throat are still swollen and sore and I have gained 15 pounds since my surgery. And my blood sugars are out of control. I go this week for that radio active iodine stuff. They will check for more cancer because my markers were positive. I hope no one else out there is as miserable as me and that I am just the exception. Good luck with your journey!

I had my left thyroid gland + one parathyroid taken out on September 27th. My first week was good. Healing fine. Now I'm almost 2 2/1 weeks out and I'm having swallowing discomfort. Luckily for me, I work in a hospital and had my general ultrasound tech scan me and found a small 1.2 cm fluid pocket. This could be normal but also should be followed up. Good luck to you all.
