For a couple of years now I have been getting a small pea sized lump on the left of my clitoris after sexual activity. It doesnt happen every time, but I would say it happens more when Im tense or if theres a lot of friction. Its slightly teardrop shaped, and if i could take a guess I would say it was almost like blood wasnt draining from a vein properly, like it was being blocked somehow. Its pretty painful and can last a day or so!
Im slightly worried, but as it goes away on its own, it could just be a harmless kink of how my body works!
Has anyone else had the same problem?!

Hi there! It could be a non-cancerous cyst, it is very rare. Or it can be nothing more than a staff infection. It comes and goes due to two different reasons. Sometimes it’s due to what you eat or due to changes in your menstrual cycle. It is not anything serious but the best way to deal with it until it goes away, which it does on its own, is to wipe over it with a warm rag or run a baby wipe under warm water after you urinate. It is also helpful to take a warm bath with one cup of Apple Cider Vinegar at least twice a week. I hope this will help.

I currently have this problem and I don't know whether to be worries about it. It's happened a few times after sex, but has only taken a couple of days to go down. However this time it's a week later and it's still here. It is sore but not anything that is near the surface of the skin to pop (like a cyst) should i go to my GP?

I actually have this problem now too. Usually a week or two before my period, it's kind of like a vein or something gets swollen to the left of my clitoris. It gets hard bumps along it too, then it goes away during or after my period. I've been having this problem for a little over a year, but recently it has gotten worse and it's quite painful and interfering with my sex life. I have no idea what this is, but I am going to the gyno soon so fingers crossed they can tell me what it is.

This happens to me too. It's like a long beaded mass on the left side of my clitoral hood that gets hard and painful when I have sex or masturbate. I have researched this before, finding very little information. Mine is extremely hard and painful, though it has been coming and going for about 4 years now. And when it's not inflamed, I usually can't even feel the vein at all. I'm so tired of it interfering with my sex life. I have no health insurance but I am desperate to find relief from this, and this is the first time ever that I have found anything about it online. I have read bout vericose veins but it doesn't seem like that's it because it's not palpable or painful all the time and I have never been pregnant, which seems to be a primary cause of labial vericose veins. I know these posts are old, but I'm hoping someone can tell us what's going on.

I'm so late but I have the same issue. It's a little bigger than a pea for me, more like a dime sized to be honest. It's not rock hard either, and it doesn't hurt when I press on it. I realized it happens when I'm on top and there's a lot of friction, but it's weird how it's always the same right side. I don't even notice it until we're done. It goes away within 8ish hours but it's just so weird how it comes and goes. I'm just scared one day it'll burst or if it's a cyst I have to take out.

Ughh same here.. Mine is long like a vein starting near the left of my clitoris and going down about halfway.. Its not quite the labia minora or majora.
Seems like vulvar varicosity but I'm not pregnant.. Though I was worried i was. I took a plan b pill about 2 weeks ago. My period just started yesterday and I was worried and took 2 pregnancy tests last week both were negative.
I have experienced this before but I cant remember if its near a period or directly related to masturbation.
I have been using a vibrator alot lately (I just got dumped by Plan B guy and have been sad masturbating alot lol) at first I thought it had to do with masturbation.
It definitely seems like a vein, long with hard bumps/twists like a varicose vein. It was quite itchy/painful yesteday and today it was very swollen and red and very painful to the touch.

Any news from anyone else? Trying to make an appointment at my gyno.

K i have this now too and its the right side of my clit and its a bead size and gets hard when im aroused and than shoots pain when i am about to have an orgasm if i push on it. It slowly shrinks and goes away. My dr said maybe a lymph node or a small cyst nothing to worry about but it can be painful after sex or masturbation.

Experiencing this for the first time and my frantic online searching led me here. Has anyone spoken to a gyno or received some sort of resolution/guidance on this? If you have, could you please update us??

Hi,

It is possible that the swelling next to your clitoris is a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin's glands are located near the vaginal opening and secrete fluid to lubricate the area during sexual activity. When the ducts of the glands become blocked, fluid can build up and form a cyst. In some cases, the cyst can become infected and turn into an abscess.

Symptoms of a Bartholin's cyst or abscess can include a painful, tender lump or swelling near the vaginal opening, discomfort during sex, and pain with walking or sitting.

Treatment options depend on the size and severity of the cyst or abscess and may include warm compresses, antibiotics, drainage, or surgery.

Have you had any medical tests?
