Swollen Glands and UTI symptoms with negative growth

I would just like to know have you got any further with diagnosis as i have the exact same syptoms as you. Anitbotics seem to keep syptoms at bay but the very minute I stop sytpoms return.

This sounds like a chlamydia infection, which often show sterile pyuria (UTI w/o colony growth). Ask for a chalmydia test from your doctor

Ok, here's my view, for what it worth.

I doubt very much you have Chlyamidia, all the same you may still want to get tested before you embark on my regime.

I had exactly the same problems for nearly 8 months, and took many different antibiotics which did nothing. After some blood work and all the usual associated tests was diagnosed with a UTI. Which was not Chlyamidia. I had moderate white blood cells caused by either strands and chains of Cocci or Squamous Ecoli Cells. Please bare in mind that they're are about 150 types of Ecoli, and i must have caught this overseas, as it was clearly a rare strain. 3 months in i was prescribed a broad spectrum drug called Levofloxacin 750mg once a day for 5 days. I can tell you now that i thought i was going to die. This is probably the most awful encounter with medicine i have ever experienced. Visual disturbances, heart palpitations, muscle spasms, nerve twinges, cramps, aches, dry throat, headaches, fever, chills, insomnia etc. It was awful, therefore i wouldn't recommend taking this as a first line defence. Also my UTI came back within 1 month.

Try what i found to be more agreeable; Ofloxacin/Floxin 200mg x 2 every day, every 12 hours, for 10 days. Read the instructions, warnings etc, side effects, interactions etc. Drink plenty of water, pee when you need to pee, refrain from masturbating. I took this medicine and am now completely good to go. If you should get a twinge, which i think you know the one i mean, just drink and pee like mad, until it passes.

Its been 5 months and i've some changes to my lifestyle. I always empty your bladder asap, as it prevents bacteria build up (used to be lazy in the night and not get out of bed, hold myself. Another example was when i went boozing, i would just hold myself until the urge past, then urinate like a race horse, come the end of the night (not clever and its probably what gave me the damn thing) Also drink plenty of water for cleansing. I stopped taking berroca soluble vitimans tablets, as i felt this was feeding the bacteria in my bladder. If your male and masturbate, keep it to a minimum in the early days, when you finish the meds and pee immediately after ejacualtion as the bacteria in your semen can infect the wall lining of the Urethra.

Finally if your in a relationship, wear a condom or refrain and till you sure it's gone. Otherwise you run the risk of being re-infected.

PS: Refrain from exercise for a month after taking eihter of these drugs, as the may cause tendernitis.

I had/ have all of these symptoms and they diagnosed me with IC. I get checked for cancer yearly. I also take elmiron to get through the days. I can't go 2 days without visual blood in urine without the meds. However all of my urine has blood in it after tested for years. I have changed my entire diet- little or no acidic foods, which had helped.

This is a late reply and I'm hoping to help others like me, who were reading this. I had UTI's for several years, and only about 1/3rd of the time did it show up in my lab tests. When I stopped antibiotics, I would immediately get sick as a dog and it kept traveling into my kidneys, which scared me. Doctors didn't want to give me more antibiotics bc they feared it would become resistant to the meds. First off, the meds they found that work to fight this in the cultures at the lab did not work in my body. Second, make them send your urine out for a culture every single time regardless of what the initial dipstick test says. My dr noticed that I had symptoms at much lower levels of bacteria in my urine than what is considered a UTI. Finally, I found a doctor who put me on the only antibiotic that helped me and I ended up having to stay on a low dose of it daily or else I immediately get sick. This tells me that there is obviously information that we don't know yet about UTI's. Now that I'm on this med, I am so much better. I do not have IC. If I get a UTI, they double my dose for a week and it cures it. I also take a double dose after intercourse. Don't let doctors tell you nothing is wrong if you know that something is..keep searching.
