It freaked me the hell out. After having sex with an friend for the first time (not 'my first time', as in first time together), I woke up in the morning, went to the bathroom and both sides of my labia minora had swollen right up. It was like my vagina had turned into some kind of animal with poison glands. I didn't even know they could do that. I didn't prod too much but there was no pain or itch. Fortunately they went down after about 12 hours. The skin on the inside of my labia majora looked a little red/distressed for a while longer, but aside from this I had no other symptoms. While I'm still going to the doctor tomorrow for some reassurance, I'm going with the popular consensus of bad sex. The sex I had the night before had practically no foreplay, was pretty rough, too hard/too fast, and went on longer than I could handle. I'd say insufficient lubricant due to dehyrdration brought on by excess alcohol consumption, combined with sheer stupidity, was the likely cause. Live and learn.

just want to second this point!
i had a lot of travelling to do the day after mine swelled and it kept rubbing when I walked which was awful. I read this and it sounded a bit odd but I was getting desperate and tried it. It still is itchy but this stopped it from rubbing on anything which made it far more bearable.
Id definitely recommend doing this.

This happened to me!! It was like a year ago and on the right side. it's still all gross and saggy D: I think im just going to have to deal with it from now on.
The swelling has happened again but I tried the 'push it back in' method on the other page and it seems to have stopped the left side from matching the gross right one...im starting to think that symmetry would've been better tho. I hate it so much!

This is happening to me now also but its th 3rd or 4th time to happen and its definatley from sex. I went to the doctor the last time and got anti biotics and the area of swelling in that area at the time went down but i dont want to be taking antibiotics the whole time! I just tried putting pressdure on it and it reduced te swelling. But i need to know how to get rid of it altogether cause i have a couple of small pea sized lumps left from exactly where they were before so Id advise go to the doctor before it happens to you, HOW CAN I GET RID OF THIS?!?!??

A few tips, I have the same problem ( right after my period) with or without sex beforehand. It has come down to soaps, tampons, and pantyliners. Don't use pantyliners! Dont use tampons if you can't take them out without the tug, meaning if you don't have enough of a flow left there will be the lubrication proBlem. Many soaps a not made for your vaginal area, because it is a self cleaning organ. As for sex, don't partake unless your man is willing to do some foreplayrand prepare you! And if you are already swollen, it will only get worsewith sex. What seems to help me is not wearing underwearoat night, and uSe cortisone cream down there.
