My daugter is 16 years old, and she goes to a boarding school. On friday her top lip was swollen, and it came out of no where. She iced her lip, tried using blistex, and that began to work, but the very next morning her lip was swollen twice as much as it was the night before. On saturday she continued to ice, take advils, and use blistex, and once again the swelling went down, but the next morning her lip was twice as swollen. She continued to ice, and use neosporin, and the swelling has gone down. But nothing has really helped much, we don't know what it is that she has, and how to help cure it.

I am sure you are very concerned about what is wrong with your daughter and I believe I’ll be a bit of a help for you as something similar to what your daughter is experiencing happened to me a while ago.
First of all I want to tell you that the lip swelling could be a symptom for many conditions, either viral and allergical. In my case, my lips got swollen because of angioedema, my tongue got enlarged and I couldn’t speak properly. I had this condition of chronical angioedema and the doctors never found the actual cause for its appeariance. It simply comes and goes.
Furthermore, the lip swelling could be also be the result of some allergions caused by food or maybe if your daughted took some medicines she is allergic to, such as hypersensitivity to aspirin, ibuprofen and some other painkillers.
Anyway, your daughter should go see her doctor because this condition is has been repeating for a while and this should be checked by the professional.
