I am really glad I found this site. It's a little unnerving to have these symtoms. I feel so much better knowing I'm not alone. I have been having episodes of swollen lips for several months. They seem to swell during the night. I can tell when it's going to happen as they feel funny and tingle. I have this tingly sensation all the way up to my nose. When I look in the mirror in the morning, sure enough, they are swollen and red. The redness extends a little beyond my lip-line giving me that clown appearance. So far it happens during the night. The swelling lasts most of the day and then they become very dry and peel for days. I mentioned this to my doctor and she called it some kind of edema and said it is a rare side effect of Lisinopril which I have been taking for high blood pressure for some time. I have been off the Lisinopril for over a week and had another attack this weekend. I called the pharmacist and she said it can stay in my system for several weeks. It remains to be seen if that is actually the culprit. I have a margarita every Friday night and it seems most of my episodes happen on the week end. After reading these posts, I'm wondering if something in the alcohol triggers it. I don't know, it's sporatic and doesn't happen every week end. It's Wednesday and my my lips and face are tingling now like I am going to have another episode.

I have been taking lisinopril for quite a few years not know what was causing this swelling in my lips and face. Then it started happening a couple of times a week and I decided to look online and saw where others were having the same problem and that this medicine and also Nifedipine for high blood pressure also causes lip and facial swelling from one side to the other side before it goes down, leaving me looking like daffy duck around the mouth.
