I need urgent advice. I woke up this morning with symptoms that indicated swollen gland thigh. This is driving me mad, because 3 weeks ago I had unprotected sex… I know the person for long time, but you never know… I read somewhere that this could indicate genital herpes. Would someone, please, explain little more about this?

Hello.
Yes, this could be true.
It is like that… genital herpes can appear in various areas of the body. Once you have been infected with the herpes virus, virus enters your body and travels through it, but it is inactive yet. Well, once the virus becomes active (this can be 3 weeks later, 1 year later …), it travels along the nerves paths back to the surface of the skin, where it causes outbreak and becomes visible. Since this is genital herpes we are talking about, it affects buttocks, genital area, and upper thighs. This is because the nerves in the buttocks, genital area, and upper thighs are connected. Therefore an outbreak can occur in annus, buttocks, thigh, penis or vagina, vulva, scrotum. I would recommend you a visit to a doctor, then you could know for sure. Swollen gland thigh is not necessary a sign for a genital herpes, but you said you had unprotected sex, so you are in a risk group. Go to your GP.
