My tempo pace according to Daniels is 9:47 (NO LAUGHING), which has been very doable, and until last night, did fall close to my 80% HR range. My question is, due to the lovely heat and humidity, should I worry more about trying to achieve the 9:47 pace, or just maintain my effort using my HRM? Since I had been doing this pace fairly regularly before the humidity, will I be going backwards if I continue to rely on my HRM is my question. (I think)
Last night, my first mile at tempo was at 10 min. I reduced to running easy after I saw 200 on my HRM.
My coach crunced the #'s based on my recent races and I'm predicted to do a 4:34, which he claims is very doable if I keep my assigned paces etc... I personally think he's insane as that would be one heck of a PR for me, but I'm more than willing to do the work and like the idea of the challenge.
