THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN METHADONE AND METHADOSE

I have been on MMTP 20 years.....1978-97.....also over the years I have noticed differences between manufactors of methadone......methadose is not new....its been here for quite a while......I wa getting 10mg methadone tabs from a Rx.....and they (for me) seemed stronger...the cost was $35 for 1200 mgs....to much greed in the black market for this drug....it is cost effective to treat addicts on methadone.....the clinics get it for almost 1 penny a mg. There are a lot of factors also (age,health,sex,anxiety,sleep patterns,other meds) which determine how it makes you feel.

i 110% agree!! i had to increase dose and it still doent have the same potency.its awful. methadone used to get my day off to a good start..now with this methadose, i have no pep in my step, nothing. may even have to think about antidepressants unfortunately. makes u cranky n short where methadone never affectd me negatively. theymay wanna say its just a generic brand but theres more to it. hate it. user of methadone for 8 happy years....unhappy user of th dose for 3 months :(

My husband &I both agree there is a huge difference between methadone & methadose. We are on separate clinics & he is on 140 mgs of " methadone", I switched to a different clinic that accepted Medicaid. I noticed the difference right away! The taste is different & methadose does not work as well. Its taken me months to get back to normal, & the methadose makes me noddy. I'll have a little get up & go for the first 3-4 he's but if I sit its a rap! At first I thought it was in my head but my husband & I switched our Sunday take home &he saw & felt it to! So yes I believe there is a Huge difference.

You are the type of addict I can't stand. You don't want help. You want to get HIGH. The two drugs are exactly the same. EDUCATE YOURSELF.

ESPECIALLY AS CONTROLLED AS METHADONE IS,

Whoever manufactures the drug is required to have the exact same amount of the active ingredient, and I can assure you that these manufacturers are watched very closely on how much methadone goes into the bottles they let out the door.

Maybe you need to go up in doseage,, or maybe you are just looking for an excuse to do so.

Who knows,. I have seen you type of addicts before.

I can say all of this because i am an addict.and have been going to a clinic 8 years, so I am not preaching, I just know the type of addict you are,, seen too many of them. CONSTANTLY looking for a way to get high, even during treatment.

I personally have taken each type mentioned in the comment above. I have been on this type of replacement therapy on and off for the past eleven years and there is a difference between the two I believe there is also a difference between the pills and the liquid. The done is stonger then the dose,and the liquid is stronger then the pills. That's my opinion I knows everyone is affected different, however this is how It is for me!!

I am working myself into a frenzy.  I've been on METHADONE for OVER 15 years...today, I go down and they want to put me on METHADOSE!!!!!  EVERYONE I know has been suffering that has switched and they haven't been on it for a tenth of the time.  The METHADONE I MEAN.  I am just terrified.  I've heard that METHADOSE IS WEAKER.....I am no in my fifties and have dealt with cancer and alot of other issues...............SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME TO GET THIS STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL........are there any pharmacies that will still give out methadone in London Ontario???

there IS a difference, the ingredients are NOT the same, the filers are much different which has negative benefits on long term usage. Prescribing doctors have been asked by their patient to increase their dosages. One doctor has had 80 percent of his clients complaining about Methadose.....

since I went on methadose I've constantly felt a need to be redosed at 18-24hrs after initial one As opposed to the old dose which I never felt withfrawal symptoms during the first day. Now am constaly thinking about the next dose. This wasn'y how it was supposed to be. Now addiction reminds me daily, especially at 25 hrs and up. I'm sick of being sick. Whatever the difference please bring back the old juice which held and kept me alot cleaner than the past  5 months.

I am soooo happy to read that it is not "all in my mind" grrr.I have been on 110 mg mix of methadone for 2 years now on the methadose,omg. It does nothing that the methadone does . I almost feel like im on opiate withdraw again. The doctors put me on hard core oxy script. Then methadone, now methadose wtf. im sorry but they are making it for a reason. It is CHEAPER TO MAKE. In a normal thought would be if it's cheaper to make it has less quality ingriediants! because they r cheaper, cheaper lower quality less strength, we are all their friggin scapegoates. Im sick of being told,we dont know , theres no difference, everyone else says it seems to be the same. Really. do they read!!!!!!!!!!IT IS NOT NEARLY THE SAME.

I have definitely noticed the difference. I used to take 40mg of methadone, pill form and tho- I wasn't wasted ,I did get a happy little buzz. I began using the liquid methadose about 2months ago and it makes me sick, no buzz at all, and I'm tired.:(

actually it is quite different im not saying its better or worse. i go to a clinic and i hear the complaints that its weaker but upon doing some research myself ive found articles saying its actually stronger. however i do believe that it is pretty much the same it just affect the body differently because it focus on different receptors. plus supposedly you only drink a trenth of the liquid and in some places its red? in any case hopefully it can continue to help people just as methadone has saved my life and allowed me to be a good decent father husband and human being.

contrary to what some have heard, methadone does not produce any kind of high in opiate addicts unless they lie to the clinic about how much of their opiate of choice. I have been a client at a state-sponsored (free) clinic for over 5 years and several private ones over the years and every one but one private administered "done" and not "dose". since it's been so long since I've had the "dose", I cannot recall the effect vs. "done", but it did hold me, so I had no complaints. what really gets me mad is that since this clinic i am on now is free, lots of people who smoke crack will try and get on the program since they actually do get high as they are not opiate addicts since apparently the combination of the crack and the methadone is a desired effect--they just use when signing up since you've got to come up dirty for opiates in a urine test in order to get on the program.
as far as the inactive ingredients in generics--they absolutely do affect the effect of many drugs, ie Xanax--my pharmacist has told me that some doctors will indicate on the prescription slip that certain companies' generics are not to be given to the patient. she also told me of several instances where patients have had such bad reactions from certain generics that they ended up in the emergency room--I suppose they were allergic to one or more of the inactive ingredients.

it  is that Methadone, Methadose and Dolophine are the same drug.

There is a big difference, Methadone is stronger And longer lasting. I take methadose daily but I was hospitalized a few weeks back when my son was born and the hospital gave me methadone , the methadone had me flying high with extreme energy unlike the methadose I take daily, I would much rather have the methadone....
