Wow I’ve been suffering from this for years and now I realize it’s from the Mirena. I’m glad I’ve found these testimonies and will have it removed this week.

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to share my story for those who might be going through the same things I did with the Mirena.
I had my first Mirena put in two months after my son was born. It was recommended as treatment for endometriosis. It was hell going in, but my endo symptoms were almost nonexistent for five years. I could tell when it was time for the Mirena to come out because my endo came back right at the five year mark. So I had it removed and had a second one put it. Again, going in was absolute hell, but no troubles with my endo. Unfortunately though, I started developing health issues that I had no idea could be connected to the Mirena. First issue, right sided back pain. It was deep muscular pain that I ended going to physical therapy for. Many hours and hundreds of dollars spent, and my therapist said the pain was from my desk job. Sitting for hours every day was very new to me as I’d always had active jobs. But strangely the pain didn’t get better when I took a new job 18 months later in which I was sitting very little. I just chalked it up to being overweight. Then I started having random tingling in my legs and weird urinary issues. I assumed it was the beginning of diabetes because I was overweight, so I hired a nutritionist and overhauled my kitchen with healthier foods. On top of all that, I developed horrific pain in the uterine/bladder pain. It was so bad I’d spend days in bed completely unable to function. When I went to the doctor, they assumed it was a bladder infection and took urine tests and treated it as an infection. However the urinalysis showed no bacteria growth to indicate infection.
And the strangest symptom was a very odd vaginal odor. Not foul, just very very odd. After much digging online, I found many women with IUDs had symptoms similar to mine. So back to the doctor I went to have it removed. She tried to talk me out of removing it, stating the Mirena didn’t cause the issues I’d described, and suggested a bunch of tests and specialist consults. I wouldn’t hear of it, and insisted the Mirena be removed. During removal it felt like someone was ripping my uterus from the inside. The doctor said, “Oh it must have been a little bit emdedded.” Yea, no sh*t. The removal was almost a month ago and my back pain has disappeared. No more bladder problems. No more uterine pain, or tingling legs. I feel like a whole new person. Listen to your body. You know it better than any doctor could.

Omg these are all my symptoms especially the tingling in the legs. I have had a bladder distensión, 14 bladder instills and now nerve stimulation for the bladder pain and from day 1 insisted it was the IUD! I’m exhausted with this pain I have no life and decided to remove it tomm. I am terrified of that pain but hopeful I’ll get my life back. I wish I read these stories sooner!
