Hi there I had a total thyroidectomy on april 14th and started synthroid `125 mg daily basically since a week after. The past week my tongue has been getting increasing swollen and sore because I am biting it also noticed some jaw clenching The on call dr told me to stop it but didn’t think it was an allergy to synthroid I have read several online blogs of other people who experienced the same thing of synthroid what do u think it is?

I have a thyroidectomy one year ago. However, I did not experience your tongue problem. I believe that it is an allergy too. I hope you are aware, however, that you cannot go without the medication. It replaces the hormone that is no longer being produced by the thyroid gland. That hormone controls important body functions. If you stop it, be sure that your doctor has prescribed a replacement, which he/she could probably do over the phone. Don't settle for this side effect. They can try other things for you. Please let us know how you are doing and which medication works for you. Good Luck!
