I had my tonsils and adenoids removed early this morning and have been in an uncomfortable pain although my mom made me pastina and it went down pretty well and i had some pudding and lots of ice water and ice pops. Although I noticed my uvela to be swollen and transparent as well, its is probably 5 times it's normal size now...doctor never mentioned that part just told me it takes two weeks may be a little more to fully recover and that it'd be painful. Im on liquid oxycodone for pain med and boy is it giving me night mares. but it helps me sleep only in 4-5 hr periods so far because I keep choking on this damn uvela. Guess I'll see what my doc has to say about that when he calls tomorrow. And ya i look like a crazy person useing a pen and paper or my laptop to communicate as well as my cell phone notepad texting too. sucks but the no talking is benefiting the healing aspect. im 22 years old,and this just suckkksss, but in the long run it'll be worth it so i've heard....anyone experience the swollen uvela..doctor say or recommend anything, and anyone have significant weight loss?

About your uvula being swollen, it's common. I had my tonsils out at age 20 - I remember looking in the mirror at the hospital because I thought I had a huge lugee in the back of my throat but it was the uvula. The worst part was the hospital doesn't let you leave until you eat something - Unbearable Pain.
The recovery was 3 weeks of jello, pudding, ice cream, applesauce (wish I would have had a vitamix blender back then) I lost 9 lbs.
It's been 16 years with tonsils gone and I've gone from around 10 sore throat episodes per year down to 1-2 per year and that being from allergies.
If you're having issues with your tonsils - don't suffer, Get them removed!!!
