I'm an 18 year old girl with a history of asthma, allergies, and other breathing difficulties since I was 5. I always wanted to get my tonsils removed because I snored so loud and never could breath out of my nose. The doctors always said no even though I didn't get strep throat too often (maybe once a year) I got tonsillitis many times but since the rapid test didn't test positive for strep they didn't think it was a problem. Anyways a week after my 18th birthday and my tonsils were looking really funky. . . usually swollen but this time they were like rigid and wavy kinda like oyster meat. I found out I had cryptic tonsillitis. Instead of the pus pockets people usually get on their tonsils when they have tonsillitis I had like caves full of trapped food and bacteria rotting. When they finally removed them they said that my tonsils were swollen all the way down my throat. Although my tonsils looked bad I never experienced much pain. The first day after having them removed was easy. I ate jello, pudding, even lo mein. 2nd day pretty much the same. Some nausea but not a whole lot of pain. It's coming up on day 4 and I'm feeling pretty well-- I'm kinda nervous because everyone says it hurts so bad.. . and I don't feel that bad. The holes in my mouth are a greenish/white color and they look I guess "pretty good" my uvula is starting to go down and I'm drinking a ton and sucking on ice chips. I'm nervous and if anyone could tell me some of their experiences and what day 5, 6, 7 and beyond are like. Scabbing and scabs falling off etc. I'm taking oxy codone pretty much every 3 1/2 hours. . . maybe thats why I don't feel much of anything?!?!? Help???!!!
