Hello, I have had breast cancer and have been on lupron shots. I can't be on these shots forever so my doctor and I
have talked about tubal and ovary removal. I have had terrible joint pain in my knees from the shots which prevent
me from walking and doing the active sports I love to do. Has anyone who has had this surgery experienced the same
joint pain and have long term problems? Thanx for your honesty! Best Jill

The pains you are experiencing are listed as common side effects of Lupron and to my surprise they are listed as "less serious side effects" (the same medication is used to treat prostate cancer in men and causes the same  kind of pain). But, you are getting Lupron shots in order to prevent your ovaries from producing estrogen which is a hormone that can contribute to higher risk of breast cancer recurring. And, your ovaries are the organs that are producing estrogen. So, basically, if you have the surgery to remove your ovaries, there would be no production of estrogen and you wouldn't need the Lupron anymore. But, you still need your doctor to re-evaluate everything, because this is decision that must be based on professional opinion. Hope I helped at least a little bit.
