I am considering having surgery on my 2nd toe on both feet just to keep cost down and get it over with. I work from home but would have to go up and down stairs once a day once I "go back" to work. I don't tolerate pain meds well. I fear the pain and ability to get around with two toes done will make it difficult for me despite my ability to work from home. Any thoughts on doing one or both toes at the same time?

For the first few days you will definitely need help getting around. Try to stay on the floor where the bathroom is located so you don't have to walk around a lot. When I had surgery I didn't really walk around for the first two weeks. I basically stayed in bed with my feet elevated all day, only getting up to use the bathroom (someone brought me my food). If there is no way for you to get around walking up and down the stairs I would recommend only doing one foot to alleviate some of the pain.
