After I have suffered from abdominal pain and rectal bleeding I realized something bad is going on. I have always been thought that if something is bleeding, it is serious, so I went to a doc. After some tests and a colonoscopy I was diagnosed with ulcrative colitis. I have been prescribed some meds but what I would like to know is what may have caused these ulcers to appear on my intestines!!! Could it be some spicy food that I have eaten or stress as I have been under a lot of stress lately! Thank you for your time!

You see, there are only some theories about what causes ulcers but none of the theories have been proven. It is not food nor stress that cause the ulcers but they may trigger the symptoms. It is thought that the body's immune system reacts to a virus or a bacterium by causing ongoing inflammation in the intestinal wall. And I must admit that you were lucky to have such mild symptoms. I had abdominal cramps first which I ignored, loss of appetite, bloody diarrhea and was so tired. All these symptoms together can kill a man/woman, I was so fatigue that I didn’t feel like doing anything. I thought it was my menopause playing with me, luckily my husband made me see a doctor.
