I just had a biopsy of the uterine wall tissue because I too have a thick uterine wall. The biopsy was a little more intense than a Pap smear, but not bad at all. they swab you with a long plastic straw type thing, it makes you cramp for a little bit right afterward. I was told I would bleed a lot, but so far not much at all (its been a week). I was in menopause for 2 years plus and now this???

I have Von Willebrand's disease and have had all of the symptoms that your daughter is having. You might have your doctor test her for that. The only birth control pill that has helped me at all is lo lo estrin. If she does have VWD, there are many treatment options that help and they can make a plan so that her heavier days are more manageable and that if she misses school it is okay. Bleeding disorders are very hard to deal with, and it's best to find a treatment plan early so you don't suffer. I am 22, and I was diagnosed at 19. That's 7 years of horrible bleeding episodes at school. I know exactly what she is going through.

I was just prescribed provera! If that does not work in two weeks then I have a D&C done! He said the fluffy uterus is why I have very irregular period and may be why I have not been able to have kids! That sperm couldnt travel! I also have PCOS! So who knows! But the next step after provera for me is the D&C and so far no period or spotting! So I dont feel its working!

Hi. Your post caught my interest because I had an ultrasound recently, and the results are that my lining is at 14mm. My gynecologist says it should not go over 5mm. I am post menopausal (different from you). However, I was hoping to find readers that have experienced thick endrometrial walls, and see what the outcomes have been. I have been on Estrogen for 5 years without taking progesterone. I know this is not good, but I was confused by all the opinions out in the medical community, so thought I should not take it. Well, time got away with the intentions of finding a doctor that would prescribe bio-identical hormones. Shouldn't have waited, but my doctor is scaring me with the threat of cancer, and ordered a biopsy. I read they are torture. I am scared at this point, so thought maybe someone has gone thorugh the same and were post menopausal. If so, please post your experience. As for every one else on here, good luck to you all. This women thing can be very daunting, but we must not give up.

Hello - I am 47 and started heavy bleeding 1.5 years ago -- I always had regular periods -- they were like clockwork -- came on the right day every month, lasted five days -- no biggie -- I have not had kids. Then 1.5 years ago it all changed -- heavy periods -- sometimes clots the size of my hand -- heavy bleeding that I have to set my alarm clock every 1.25 hours and wake up to change and wash up -- forget pads they don't absore the heavy blood and clots -- at least the tampons hold it in with the pads -- I went to the doctor to be tested and ask about a procedure where they put a balloon into your uterus and heat it up -- it stops the bleeding - my friend and cousin had it done and it is wonderful. My Dr. performed a biopsy and found that I have a thick uterine lining. He put me on Provera for 45 days. I'm to go back to be retested then. He said it is not cancer, but can become a pre-cancer. The Provera may stabilize my uterus. If the biopsy comes out normal, then I can have the procedure. If not, we will have to consider other forms of treatment like removal of the uterus. I can't take the bleeding anymore. I work in an office and I can't be in a meeting more than 45 minutes -- forget driving anywhere that is more than 10 minutes there and back. I've missed many days off work because the bleeding was so heavy I couldn't go 15 minutes without changing and bathing. I pray this pill works for me. Please see your Dr. and talk to him/her. Let them help you.

I am 49 years old, my tubes where cut and burned ten years ago. So no concern for pregnancy :) I had a period Jan 29, 2013 I missed February and March, I am experiencing nausea and fatigue. Concerned and hoping i maybe entering premenopause I went to my doctor to make sure that this was the case. They did ultrasound cause I was having pain in my right lower abdomen area. And as the rest of you stated my uterine lining is thicker than nomral. 1.5 cm which is considered to be ok mine is 1.7 cm, he prescribed provera and a biopsy. Should I take the provera, i am scared after hearing the horror stories.

please go back to your doctor and get checked out. don't take it upon yourself to self diagnose or self medicate. you are still young and something can be done for you. if you don't have any children and want to have a family, this may be your opportunity to make that happen. you don't want to have a hysterectomy to correct the problem if something else can be done for you now. I too wa s told the same thing. I am taking provera now and will go back for a check up in 2 months.

I've had endometriosis for 10 years, with excessive bleeding and chronic back pain and some spotting between periods. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. My uterine lining is 13mm thick. Essentially adenomyosis is when the uterine lining starts to invade the uterine muscle itself. This is why the uterus is enlarged. Check with your doctor about this. It is diagnosed with a transvaginal ultrasound.
