I hate the under eye rash as well - and like you said, it makes the skin very think and wrinkled! I occasionally get relief when I put a Vitamin E cream on the areas and then after it soaks in I use cold compresses on it. Sometimes it gets so inflamed that it creates an extreme puffiness/bag under my eye. Sucks. Any remedies/suggestions for a permanent solution would be greatly appreciated!

I've been dealing with the same thing for about 3 or 4 weeks, I woke up one morning with red patches under my eyes, more under the right than left, and under right eye swollen and wrinkly. It was fading slowly over a couple of weeks, but a few days ago I woke up with dark red again and more spots on my eyelids, corners of eyes, beside nostril, and corners of mouth. I tried some hydrocortizone and antihistamines for a couple of days, then read more on this blog and decided to clean the area well. I used Bentonite clay in solution, last night as a mud pack on my face and around my eyes (it's known to draw out contaminants), let it dry for 5 or 10 minutes, then had a hot shower and used glycerine soap (pure Vegan) to wash around my eyes rubbing with just my fingers. Within ten minutes of drying off, the redness was almost gone. This morning I woke up and it was still almost gone. The skin feels tight all around my eyes and has all day, no puffiness or swelling under my right eye. I'll do another cleanse tonight and see how long to clear up completely and add another post. I think it was an infection from using aloe vera gel on my face and around my eyes, that was carrying some bacteria. I have also read that all cosmetics, ointments, cremes, lotions, etc. will get contaminated with contact to the opening in the container, and harbor bacteria eventually. So, throw out everything and start fresh, and don't keep large sizes, by only small sizes, try not to touch the opening where it dispenses, and toss it in a few months, or less. I'm going to start keeping my aloe vera gel in the fridge. I've also been swabbing the areas with alcohol, and not using any cremes or drugs of any kind. Hope this helps.

Check your creams, lotions and medicine for a chemical called Retinol. This chemical, if used in large amounts is dangerous to your health. Side effects are as what many of you have been saying. Redness, drying, spots etc. If you find this chemical in your products, stop using the product and see if conditions improve. If conditions improve, you still can use the products but use not often. Once in 2 days. I this is one of many chemical used in lotions, and creams. There is many other ones. So use your personal care products carefully and research the chemicals added.

Try Tea Tree Oil! I usually dip a cotton swab in a bottle of it and dab some lightly on the spots before I go to bed, it'll sting a little but by the next morning it seems to be gone.

My eye irritation popped up over night! Never had anything like this before!! It's red and swollen and I look like I've aged 30 years over night! But the irritation under my eyes is worse under my right eye than my left and it burns to the touch. Does anyone else have these symptoms? It's wrinkly looking and dry and if I put makeup on to hide the redness for work, it just brings out the wrinkles even more. And y'all are right... No creams, lotions or medications have helped me either... So please tell me someone has figured out what this is by now so we can all be our beautiful selves again!!

It sounds like sebborrheic dermatitis. Some home remedies are steroid creams and/or anti-fungal anti-yeast creams. Stress can play a role in outbreaks. I suggest you see a dermatologist at a University health center and they can remove some skin cells and view it under a microscope to make a definitive diagnosis. There are prescription regimens that can be very helpful including light therapy. Hope this helps :)

Not to scare anyone but your eye issues might be telling you that there is something going on internally. I have had these same eye problems and worse and am currently being evaluated for an autoimmune disorder. I'm hoping that's not the case with me but it might be something to talk to your MD about.

Please don't use the coal tar shampoo. I'm allergic to PPD, found in many hair dyes, and ppd is basically coal tar. Don't put near your eye. I have this under eye rash now too so was looking for solutions on here. Tried fresh aloe tonight. \

I have been suffering from exactly the same thing for about a month - a sore itchy bumpy rash under only my left eye. I've been using WELEDA Larch Resin comp. ointment for about a week and it's clearing up. I've also just started to take 30C Euphrasia (homeopathic tablets) which support and heal eye problems. You can hardly tell I have a rash now and I'm sure it'll be gone altogether soon. Hope that it helps you too and good luck!
