I called my headache doc at the Mayo. The doc on call said keep on the steroids 'because they may still help' and if I get to feeling really bad, go to the ER., then make sure I follow up with my regular doc. I have an appointment with him already but not until January 20th. I cannot live like this for another month while I wait for that appointment.
My hormone doc is not answering. Holidays.
Not really happy right now. I just tried a couple of Ibuprofen for the pressure. I feel like I am in the movie 'Scanners' and my head is going to explode all over. It's crazy.

I am so glad I found this thread like many of you out there! It is comforting to know that we are not crazy in our own heads!!
I am 22 years old and I've been experiencing these symptoms for the last decade since I was in 6th grade... Though, compared to what I've been experiencing in the past 6 months, the previous symptoms can be considered "mild" but still bothersome.
Nowadays, I can barely drive a car and it is also affecting me at work, making me feel like I will pass out when walking around. That really encouraged me to further seek more help, thus landing me into this thread.
I want to bring a suggestion to the table...
How about lets just do a little survey and have people experiencing these symptoms post their occupation and the amount of time they spend in front of the computer each day? I think we might start to see a trend pattern here.
Hope we can all get down to the bottom of this and return to our normal lives!!

I totally think the computer has something to do with it, and have had that thought in the back of my head for awhile. Me, 57, female, full time restaurant work (we own one...ugh!) and USED to spend 4+ hours/day on the computer but now I'm down to 1 hr. I feel a little better each day with the exception of a broken ankle 3 weeks ago and dizzy when I bend forwards sometimes. But compared to a few months ago-I feel fantastic. I think the dizzy is something I'm going to have for the rest of my life and as long as it doesn't spiral into vertigo-I can absolutely live with that! Good luck everyone-keep searching . Merry Christmas!

I am a software support specialist, on my computer 10+ hours per day. I get up and walk around, do other tasks, focus on distance objects all the time. I try to sit up straight.
But, even when on vacation from my computer for a week, I still have issues.

I could try it, but am not so sure it would help. I try nasal decongestants such as Sudafed and they do nothing to help. The pressure is in my forehead, and at the temples, and the left side of my face is numb.
I'll pick some up and give it a go. I guess it could not hurt.

Just another update: it's now Dec 27 2012. I continue to have success using Armour Thyroid (contains t4 and t3, rather than just the t4 of Synthroid). I have had ZERO dizziness, nausea, feeling like I am falling forward, weird blurry vision problems,-- all of these things are gone and have stayed gone. A plus is that my tinnitus ear ringing has also gone, or is all but gone. I've had that for at least three years.
And I have a LOT of energy-- the difference is just amazing.
What I have found out is that many people are subclinically hypothyroid. Google subclinical hypothyroid and you will see a lot of research on it (also with snake oil articles!)
While you are googling try

and see all the symptoms of hypothyroid. Could all our problems really be due to this????

holy moly, i'm so stoked for you!!!
I did a test for hypothyroid right at the front end of my testing. The results did not show any abnormalities. My neurologist (who I saw for the first time two months ago) issued a requisition to be tested for thyroid issues again.... hopefully you are correct.... SO EXCITED!! I'll play out this metal test to the end... Then I'll try this lead.
BTW "GUEST".. I replied to your request for number hours spent in front of a computer monitor yesterday... but my post did not seem to have uploaded properly.
I spent 14hours a day in front of a computer monitor for around 9 years. I changed jobs and took on a little lighter responsibility. I spend 9 to 10 hours in front of a monitor now.

If you would like to stop the thyroid madness please google those exact words. thank you.

Has anyone actually passed out from the dizziness? Or has it always just been a discomfort thing?

hey guest.
i made 2 appointments and asked my gp and naturopath about Armour Thyroid. Both of them were reluctant to believe or prescribe this to me... as both of them roughly said the same thing to me: basically that introducing the t3 and t4 thyroids into my system when not necessary.... is not a great idea. I did, however, manage to talk my gp into sending me for further thyroid testing, based on your strong results.
Could I please ask you guest... did you start taking A.T. because your thyroid tests proved you should... or did you take start taking A.T. on a hunch as a possible treatment for the dizzies.... i wanna have "ZERO dizziness...", like you.... your recovery sounds awesome!!!
I think a different guest asked if anyone has passed out.
Not me.
Not yet.
I've never passed out before(including pre-dizzies) so I am not sure how it feels to pass out.... but I think I was pretty fricken close a couple times. hope yer all doing okay.... i 've been a mess the past few days... i am so tired of this c**p!! but it could be worse... so i won't gripe!!

Hello everyone, were everyone's onset symptoms sudden/came out of nowhere? My question is whether whatever it is due to sudden movement/neck/brain related injury or internal/viral/due to happen. Obviously nobody is getting anywhere with treatment for either, so that leaves many other possibilities. I think a survey of everyone's, most to least troublesome, symptoms and explanation of how it first occurred could help, or any other unusual event that occurred around that time; we just need to then take everyone's answers and narrow down to most common? Would that be possible? I just don't want to go to another doctor/specialist and be a guinea pig again, especially when they don't know what's wrong to begin with. Someone mentioned in an earlier post about getting attention for a study to be done, any ideas as to how?
Mine include poor sleep (that dizzy/whatever it is feeling either increases or maybe I'm just more aware of it); especially when I lay on my back, stiff/sore neck; with pain at times, tinnitus, cannot concentrate on schoolwork at all, memory is horrible, food at random also makes it worse. And this all began on a random day, doing a sit up or something on a large balance ball. Was very stressed out at that point in my life, had gotten a couple vaccines (which I originally thought was the cause; toxicity) that year, am not on any medications/supplements, think I had dental work but nothing major; fillings. All testing from doctors/specialists come out normal except for low vitamin d and iron; which can cause these symptoms but I can't be sure if that's the cause, unless everyone's are low. Also I can't increase either because I am sensitive to supplements for both.

great idea... I think it makes perfect sense to do this.
I cannot pinpoint when my dizzies started. One day about 1.5 yrs ago, I started noticing how feeble I was while walking down a flight of stairs at work. I thought it was just because I was overweight and so sedintary at work. I remember thinking to myself, "man, i gotta get my fat ass to the gym... i feel so weak and feeble... I am pathetic". I started to have really short but big bouts of dizzispells coming inside from a smoke breaks. I was HIGHLY stressed out at work. I also quit 26 years of smoking.
The symptoms got more noticeable and steadily worse for the past 10 months. Symptoms include weird overpowering smells in my nose, fatigue, muscle weakness, coordination reduction (especially to my left side), heavy feeling at the base of the skull and upper neck, slurred speech.
I had a bunch of metal fillings removed many many years ago.
My inquiry of iron deficiency (after reading it online) was put to rest by my naturopath. iron deficiencies are not likely in males and taking suppliments can hurt your liver.
I have food allergies.
I've been tested for metals(urine), food allergies(blood), bppv(mri), thyroid(blood), diabetes(blood), poor circulation to my brain (ultrasound), balance and ears(mri and ctscan), kidney's(blood). All came up negative except food allergies and metals.
Treatment for food allergies were successful. No more IBS. Still under going metals treatment... varying degrees of change thus far. Dizzies do not change, but head feels more alert and attentive.
I still feel horrible.

Mine started suddenly with mild symptoms and has progressed to daily headaches in the area of a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I was sitting on the couch around Memorial Day 2011 and looked left at my husband. At that point I had a dizzy spell. I chalked it up to allergies and sinuses. The rest is history. It has progressed to almost constant dizziness and daily migraines (so I am told this is migraine). I have had a headache that will not quit for the last 10 days straight now. I went to the ER Friday night and they did a CT scan of my sinuses because the left side of my face was numb and my cheek and left temple hurt. Of course my sinuses are crystal clear. They shot me up with toridal and morphine and sent me home. The headache was back with a vengeance on Saturday night, I cannot get any advice from my Mayo Clinic Headache Neurologist nor can I get a phone call back from the doctor on call. I am not enthralled with the Mayo Clinic. Appointments take forever and after 1-1/2 years of testing and doctor co-pays, I still feel like total c**p. I think I am going to a pain clinic for another opinion. Most recently two rounds of Dexamethazone, Botox and Verapamil have not helped. I have given up my birth control pills, which made things even worse. I found I had food allergies and intolerances and completely fixed my diet - which did actually get rid of my acid reflux. I have tried acupuncture. I am told NOT to exercise because I may have adrenal fatigue. I am trying natural hormone replacement therapy because lab work shows I am peri- or menopausal and have started a large dose of vitamins and supplements on the advice of my BHRT doc. She said this would be an even rougher road to switch from synthetic hormones to natural hormones , but holy cow - most people would not be able to deal with the daily pain I am in. I am ready to give up. Karen from Arizona
