I have heard of this more than once - a hidden tooth infection causing dizziness and headaches. I was cleared by my dentist because he saw nothing on xrays and all my MRI's came back fine.

Wouldn't we all think that any abscess or tooth issues would show on one of three MRI's in the past 1-1/2 years? Although every doc has blown off the fact that the left side of my face from my cheekbone to my jaw sometimes feels like I am on the tail end of Novocaine (somewhat numb). I am thinking about going to an oral surgeon to check for this and TMJ.

My problems started about a month or so after a bad cold. Doc said I had fluid in my ear in March 2011 and put me on antibiotic and Prednisone, if I remember right. Symptoms of the cold went away and this all started in May 2011. At this time I also had large stress factors - my father was slowing dying in the hospital (he finally passed in July 2011) and I was having financial difficulties.

Holy Cow! I've had a root canal and another broken tooth capped in the last 2 years. I never would have thought my symptoms could be caused by my teeth without this site! The root canal has been bothering me ALOT for the past couple of months; but I've read that sinus issues can cause tooth/jaw pain, too. I'm dealing with my sinus issues and my tooth doesn't hurt as bad as it did a month ago, but I still 'feel' it more than I think I should. That's it, I'm calling my dentist first thing in the morning and I WILL ask for the AUGMENTIN (thanks for that tip!). I have the best dentist in the world (I think) so I will tell him everything that's been going on with me and all of us and share his feedback here. You people are all so great.....I appreciate everything you all are posting here. PS: Nearly 2 weeks without vertigo! I've had maybe half a dozen slight dizzy spells, but none of the lurching/rolling (and falling down) vertigo that's been part of my daily life for nearly 2 years. I still feel pretty good, about 90%, I'd say. I'll post again after I see my dentist. Thanks y'all! Hey, Karen from AZ. I live north of PHX.....isn't this weather FANTASTIC?! Take care.

Just baffles me , all these people have the same exact symptoms and nobody does a study or something ...   No one in medicine takes notice ...

Hey Betterhalf, I am in the Glendale/Peoria area. Making all my friends back in Chicago so jealous with our 80 degrees and sunshine! I moved here to improve my mood and it worked!

I am going to talk to an oral surgeon's office tomorrow and go in for a consultation. What do I have to lose except more time?

hey folks....seems like some good leads. keep us posted... i'd love o hear everyone's outcome. I just saw my naturopath yesterday... i really like that guy. that dude is wise. He always has really logical insights and philosophies. Anyways, he and i started discussing the dizzy topic again. i'm pretty sure he could see the fear on my face and hear the frustration in my voice for why the cure keeps evading us. He gave a little insight into how his thought approach to my situation. I thought he made sense: - the term "dizziness" is a generalization. there are many possible causes (and combination of causes) that could be contributing to all our dizzy issues. the hard part is to identify the culprit(s) and then treat it/ them accordingly. His approach with me, is to rule out the most usual suspects one at a time... and if nothing works... move to the less obvious. (that's whee this collective forum is helping me)I make suggestions to him and let him come up with possible next steps. His approach sounded fair to me. I figure that any number of reasons could be causing this in each of us. One cure may work for a bunch of us... but might not have the same success on others. Tell me if you think otherwise. I'd love to hear it. it helped me understand that i needed to keep pushing for my cure. hearing your testimonials and ideas are only increasing my chances of finding my cure. keep em coming please folks. keep updating. hope yer all feeling better today.

I'd like to add to my previous post of background and symptoms ... my probs started last july and thru october 2011 , were on and off, and responded to pseudophed and also lifted in winter months . In May 2012 they came back and were un-responsive to increasing doses of pseudophed , nasal rinses , steroids, nasal steroids ...    On a side note, I have had periodic migraines thru life but have not had one since I have the "rolling in a boat" syndrome ... but when i did have migraines , an open car window blowing frigid cold air over my head was heavenly on my migraine .... Yesterday, we went out dirtbiking, It was frigid and a few minutes into the ride as frigid air flow thru my helmet, I felt the pressure lift , I felt level, vision got clearer and sharp depth perception and so I started rippin up the trails pretty good .  All the banging and bouncing didnt bother it one bit . The cool/frigid air (snowing and hailing) seemed to allow the "pressure" to lift ... the pressure behind my forehead and eyes. During breaks, I noticed my eyebrows didnt feel like they were pumped full of molasses hanging over my eyes, and my forehead felt light . It was wonderful.  I did a ton of riding all thru the frigid last winter too.    I hung around the house today and could feel it all coming back again ... ugggh !

Last may and this may, I had been out on the trails doing trail maint , alot of birch pruning and agitation its pollen , donno if this means anything ???   Also had a few root canals and abcesses nov 2010-mar2011 ...    The off balance I feel is strangely similar to the nitrous oxide the dentist gives me although likely unrelated.  Im almost positive I had a course of Amox/Clav 875 (augmentin)

hey boatonrollingseas, for the whole time this c**p has been happening to me, I always believed it could be: -my hayfever allergies (sinuses) -my lowback/ neck, -inner ear -or the fact I have gotten so ridiculously out of shape. I too can remember a very distinct moment while riding my bike (on a very very frigid day) where my head felt different. a little clearer. I've been on nasal steroids for years.... to help me with my hayfever. Do you think your case could be allergy related? I have yet to find out what to do about it, if it is really allergy related. Does anyone else get relatively clearer for a split second by taking a REALLY deep breathe. I do. When i feel super off balanced or nervous (EG:looking at any flight of stairs... yes stairs freak me out now) i take a huge breathe, and fill my lungs with air.... for a split second i feel better. any others?

I am getting worse.  Doctor gave me the 6 day course of steroids for my headaches.  Sunday was the last dose.  Yesterday my debilitating headache/neck ache/ etc. is all back.  Three Aleves, 4 tylenol and a sudafed in the last 24 hours has done nothing.  I tried heat and ice.  I am dizzy, and it feels like my head is going to explode from the inside out.  Considered going to the ER.

I am consulting with a hormone replacement doctor and a TMJ doctor today.

Endocrinologist yesterday was a waste of time.  He was only meeting with me to discuss my cortisol levels (his words) and would not discuss any other symptoms or give me any ideas about why I feel the way I feel.  He did order a cortisol analysis because he said the previous test I got was (salivary) was worthless.

MrFeelbad , no I dont think it's the act of just taking a deep breath that helped , I think it was the Cold Air --->

I cant say for sure , and actually i've had about 3 other times that it lifted since this may . I had a couple good days in june, a few in july and then about a week in the end of september ... a whole week possibly 100% clear ... so maybe that debunks the "cold air" theory ... I donno but taking a deep breath doesn't help it .   I'm just so sick and tired of being off balance

That is exactly how I felt 2 mos. ago! Along with fever and nausea. I still feel it trying to come back on some days; Sunday I felt awful! Felt fine in the am, but by early afternoon I felt ALOT of pressure in my head, my neck and shoulders were sooo sore and stiff along with a dull throbbing headache. Heat and lots of tea helped. Then yesterday, I felt GREAT! And so far, so good today. I'm still dizzy quite a bit, but most of the time it doesn't feel like it's going to turn into the lurching/rolling vertigo. I have noticed this past week that I'm getting dizzy and short of breath every time I bend over....I felt that way everyday for at least a month before I got so sick 2 mos. ago. Uh-oh...it's Baaaack! I see my acupuncturist today for a marathon session (pin cushion time...) and see my Dentist on Thurs. to rule out -or find out if my tooth is the cause. I'll ask him for a prescription for Augmentin as well. (I have no health ins. and living in a small town, my only option is to go to Urgent Care at $100+ a pop. I often have to ask my Dentist to do "double duty" and prescribe me stuff. He's very understanding.) I'll keep you all posted....Take care

mrfeelbad and boatonrollingseas, Cold air does the opposite for me, I get really bad headaches and my neck and shoulders almost seize up when I shiver.( That's why I live in AZ!) However, I DO notice that I feel good or at least better, when I'm out walking (taking deep breaths). Maybe oxygen absorbtion rates have something to do with it? I also have a gut feeling that my symptoms may be allergy related. Sinuses, teeth and ears and balance.......there's got to be a connection between all of them (with me). I'm ruling out the obvious right now, just like your Naturopath, mrfeelbad; he DOES sound like a wise dude. Keep us posted on what he is doing for you; I for one, will try anything...I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired! Take care

hey betterhalf. Are you not feeling better? I thought you were doing acupuncture and you were feeling good. I'm not asking sarcastically... it's just that your story was very promising... at least it was to me. I was so happy to hear you beat this. are you not better? I've finished part 1 of 3 , for metal toxicity treatment. I do not feel any better. In fact i think i feel worse thus far. the dizziness has been unrelenting... and also my knees were CRAZY sore yesterday...that's the first time in my life... too early to tell if the treatments will help my dizziness. Though i'd imagine taking these toxins out of my body is a good thing. I'll keep y'all posted.

MrFeelBad , I dont mean a facebook page to take the place of this or any other forum . I also didnt visualize a facebook page as a forum but more as a homebase that all of us suffering from this "boat on  rolling seas, fatigue, balance syndrome" could be connected to and to network . Example; The two districts that I race in , Upstate NY , and East Coast NJ each have their own similar facebooks where people just network about the where/when/races , they are not really boards .....and we all use other forums for entering topics and posts like we're doing here .

The Idea is that if there are enough of us in one place with very very similar symptoms , we may have enough for someone to consider a study to find the root cause of this . I have no interest in being an administrator , and I have no financial interest . Im just sick of having my VERY ACTIVE LIFESTYLE taken from me with this balance/fatigue thing.  All theses forums will still be an invaluable source of experiences, information and possible outcomes.  There is power in numbers .  One common thread I notice across everyone here is that we all seemed to be fairly intelligent and physically active before the "dizzy monster"  ...

Was at the Chiropracter the 2nd time today , he's really making my neck and back feel much better ... but that darn "dizzy monster" keeps hanging on ... guess he's immune to the chiropracter .  I do have one short term solution that works pretty good , it is in the otc dept in walmart . It's called "Motion Sickness"  it's a small bottle with dimenhydrinate , which is also known as Original dramamine (NOT NEW DRAMAMINE)  , anyway, these motion sickness tabs work short term like if you have to do something that day and dont mind being slightly laid back , somewhat relaxed . Problem is that they are not fixing the core problem, but they do mask it temporarily , like if you have to fly or walk in the grocery ... eh fwiw     Nice talking with all of you , it's great to talk but lets keep hammering at this til we find a solution. We deserve our lives back . XD

It's not a substitute for a good forum like this and other ones out there . It could however be a good place to centralize all of us with the same symptoms that no one seems to be able to resolve .  The page has marketing and ad revenue shut off , anything it gathers is from facebook alone , not me .  I'd like to officially state that I have nothing to gain from it other than i'd like to get some numbers of people with the same exact symptoms I have and increase the chance for a solution .

sign me up boatonrollingseas.

Thanks for the tip on the Motion Sickness. I'm gonna buy some just to have in hand. I'm gonna take one... I haven't felt right in so long bruther... I look into my llittle Kid's eyes almost every night. and well up cuz, I have not been much of a father to him because of this c**p. I drag my family with me to medical appointments with me on saturdays... YAY so much fun!!!

but life could be so much worse... I truely appreciate everything in my life right now. We DO deserve our lives back.

This seems like such a small tangable issue... but somehow it feels years away.

BTW.... do we all share the same neck, back, skull issues? Does everyone feel a tightness in their soulders? Does everyone share the feeling of pressure at the top of the neck and bottom of the skull? Does everyone feel the feeling of someone laying their hand over the right side of your skull? I gett a heavy dizzy feeling when i tilt my head upwards.

Boatonrollingseas was the first person who described the symptom as"falling forwards". descriptively i feel exactly like this. anyone else?? I'm gonna assume everyone's done epley's already. thanks for clarifying boatonrollingseas.
