hey guys,
just updating. I went to see an asian doctor today. he and his colleague both seemed to think i would feel better if i worked on getting my liver healthier.... i'm not saying this is THE cure we've all been seeking... but it is something i am going to try for the following months... as well as looking closer into the thyroid thing(my blood got drawn today).
If you look it up online.. you'll see that an unhealthy liver COULD cause a bunch of our symptoms.
I am still going after the heavy metals for a bit.
anyways... just thought i'd throw it out there for you guys... maybe it could help us.

Most of the above and still no end in sight but meditation practiced for say 10 minutes each day has really really helped. When I've been that disciplined it seems to eradicate allthe symptoms including an itchy rash which has a mind of its own just like the other symptoms.

Everything else has some impact for a short term whereas the meditation seems to do the trick more completely or holistically. As I say you have to do it each day and if you can two or three times a day. Only 10 minutes or as much as you can commit - five minutes would probably do it. Better than sleep because you don't have vivid dreams which burn the same energy as being awake so you end up less tired and more able to cope. Works for me. Problem is it helps and as the problems recede and I fall out of the discipline until the problems return. Just laziness.

Doesn't have to be chanting and all that people attribute to meditation. It can start as just basically sitting quietly and having that time out. Concentrate on breathing in and out. No trying to stop all thoughts just a few minutes out of each day to catch your breath.

Try breathing in for a count of 5 hold it for 3 then out for 7. Find your own rythym and timing to this ratio.

This will work to get you started and you can do this for two or three cycles when things get too much for you, so in less than a minute you can feel a little more calm.

Hope this helps.

Had an ER treatment one week ago for migraines where I received Toridal, Morphine and Benedryl after they scanned me for a sinus infection, which of course came back negative and clear.  Then had 3 day IV outpatient treatment at Mayo Clinic for migraines with Toridal, Dexamethasone, Ativan and Benedryl.  Headache came back next day after treatment was complete.  It will not quit.

Went to my hormone doc yesterday.  We are adjusting my hormone cocktail, adding pregnenalone and DHEA, and increasing my Magnesium supplement.  Also testing today for Lyme Disease, Valley Fever, Epstein-Barr.  She is suggesting a heavy metals detox.  I am going on a probiotic.  My symptoms are worse with time and this headache and dizziness will not let up, unless I am drugged at the Mayo Clinic.

Headache doc is putting me on Arthotec for the pain.   Anxiety is SKY HIGH.  My hormone doc sent my file to her mentor.  He thinks I have a yeast overload and wants to put me on an anti-fungal.  I am waiting on that because I am already adjusting my hormones and starting the new anti-inflammatory med.  He also confirms my adrenal system is messed up, but are messed up because of another issue somewhere - its not the adrenals causing the issues, if that makes sense.  My last set of labs did show my magnesium was low, which can contribute to headaches.

My headache doc also gave me Vicodin for emergencies.  I may have to use it.  Never took this drug in my life and would like to avoid it.

Anyone else have any updates?  I know someone was doing the heavy metals detox.  How is that going?

hey mafixit,
It was me doing the detox.
I wish I could tell you that things were doing better.... but it is hard to know if things are getting more normal. The treatment is periodically making me feel better. It's gonna be a marathon and not a sprint I imagine.
I've been on an IV an pills prescribed by my Naturopath for around 6 weeks now.
I've asked my doctor to re- administer the metals test again... to see if the treatment has had any impact on my metal levels (which were a little higher for lead and mercury).
If the treatment is working.... then my body has less metals in it. If the treatment is not working... then that would probably explain why I do not feel much better. The test is a win win for me. I'm no expert or doctor... but I imagine that getting rid of metals is a good thing.
I'll update you in a couple weeks when my new results come in. Man you are having a rough time. I am sorry. good luck to you.

Hey everyone, sorry to hear nobody is getting better. I'm worse too. Plus am sick with the flu. Saw another doctor again yesterday. When you get a response of "you're a mystery" after recalling your symptoms, for the hundredth time..I think that's when you give up. I can't take this anymore. I'm trying to obtain my medical records and try to figure this out on my own but I can't afford them. I was really hoping they would agree that it was neck/cervical issues because of the car accident (the only thing that happened around that time), but she said it wasn't if the neurologist said the cervical x-ray came out fine. She did say it could be Meniere's but the ENT I saw a year or so ago said it wasn't. So I guess the option to get treated for it is available, should I try it? Did do more blood work, so that's the only thing I have to look forward to right now. Otherwise I just don't know how to accept that I will have to live this way for the rest of my life. Making it through the day isn't living.

"hang in and DO NOT cut unless it's all you got!!!" this is my own advice to me.

The forum moderator may shut me down for asking... but has anyone heard of a Dr. Jackson from Massachusetts? I am thinking of speaking to him. His patient testimonials sound promising.

I am still awaiting my 2nd MRI to tell me if i'm suffering from MS. Geust 03... there isn't a single person who doesn't understand your frustration and fears... sh*t it's my middle name. Keep on keepin' on... you will find an answer if you keep looking.

BTW... I suspect mine to be a neck thing too... or an absorpbion issue, or a t3 and t4 thyroid issue, or an allergy issue. at least these are the theories i am going after for myself.

doctor's are only interested in you while you are in their office... they see so many patients per hour...i can't blame em... i know (at least while i'm in his office) he wishes i felt better. you gotta keep looking.... you owe it to yourself... nobody else will push for you except you... and us.

Hi, thanks mrfeelbad, I really needed to hear (read) your positivity. I feel like I won't make it through the day but I guess if you don't think about how bad it really is, and pretend to be happy and healthy, maybe you'll believe it?

I also agree with all the things you say it might be. I got tested for allergies though and nothing, that still leaves intolerances, which can only be done through food elimination. I wanted to see a dietitian, also to get my iron and vitamin d levels normal again, with diet instead of supplements. I have an appt. with Gastro, probably will have the upper GI scopy, so hopefully I'll get some answers on the absorption issues. But that's not for another 2 months. This sh*t is a waiting game. Only to be disappointed. And awaiting my thyroid results again, but they were normal last time. Do you think it might be hormones? As far as the neck thing, there are neck strengthening exercises, or a good pillow? I know mine sucks.

Do you know the first name of the doctor? Or the city? I'm from MA. If we could get his attention on this; maybe he can help all of us?

Hormone doc (outside of the Mayo) gave my file to her Mentor and Collegeau and he added to the protocol for treatment.

My hormone treatment has been adjusted and they want to put me on an anti-fungal for yeast overgrowth in my gut. I read up on some of the symptoms which can mimic fibromyalgia so I am going to fill this and take it for the 30 days they prescribe. It really has no side effects, so why not? She also tested me for Lyme Disease, Valley Fever, Epstein-Barr and one other thing. Waiting for the results.

In the meantime Mayo Clinic wants another round of Botox and wants to increase the dose. Not sure why if it did nothing the first time. And now I am on a daily dose of Arthotec for pain, until the antidepressant they gave me "kicks in". I am still not taking that, however, because I want my hormone doc's protocol to have a chance.

hey geust 03. Google "dr. jackson vertigo" and you should get a lot of results. He sounds interesting to me.. so I want to see him...BUT ... I DON'T WANT to steer you the wrong way... I am not a doctor. And this lead might not lead us anywhere... it's a long shot for us.... but no more of a longshot than SOME of the stuff I've read. If you do decide to go..
Good luck and let us know.

hey guys,

does anyone else feel a tightness in their lower skull and upper neck?  do any of you feel weaker on the left hand side? does anyone else get worse when walking in the dark?

on a seperate note... does anyone wonder what happened to the past members of this forum?  the ones from 4, 3 and 2 years ago?  I wonder if they all felt better after a while?  some of us have already lived with this condition for YEARS... so i highly doubt it was a bad thing that made them stop writing.  I know a few of them found their cure.  would be nice to hear from one of them.

i am feeling the exact same way! my anxiety attacks have gotten better, i am exercising, eating a little better, better my attitude, praying, and trying to keep positive. ive been having those "not feeling real" or "deja vu" feelings (like you said its hard to explain. i know its scm syndrome even tho i havent been diagnosed by a dr. my neck muscles are tight, i have ear pain, bottom teeth pain, templar pain and what feels like sinus headaches. i have moments where i need to cough, dizziness, arm pain, and weakness and gastro problems. ive thought well maybe its MS, a type of cancer, even a broken clavicle since the scm pulls on it, and they feel like they 'shift'. im trying to stretch more, better my posture, and relax. inshaAllah i can get some relief. GOD and the positive attitude helps out a lot.

MrFeel.... you hit the nail on the head with neck tightness, weakness in the left arm, and being off balance walking in the dark. I posted a while back and havent found anything of substance yet.... and this is going on 7 months now. The doctors are clueless and my bloodwork keeps coming back normal. Its driving me crazy... and i am a premed student (hopefully still am after having a terrible semester last session from feeling terrible).

I had my gastro give me antiparasitic drugs and it didnt help... ive tested my cortisol for addisons, ive gone to chiropractors, now take an inhaler for swelling in my throat and esophagus, ive seen a neuro, ent, kidney specialist... the list goes on.
The most recent thing they are looking into is fibromyalgia... and i dont have too much pain. Lately though after 7 months of this i have developed knee and back pain bad.... Im 29 and i feel like this has aged me 20 years in 7 months. Forget about going out at night and having ANYTHING to drink. To your point it would be interesting to find out if earlier posters had found any relief or diagnosis.

Hey clancybenjamin,

so it sounds like you and i are surrogates. I'll be interested to hear what s working for you.

As i mentioned in earlier posts... i started seeing korean acupuncturist. I've been to 4 sessions now. I DON'T see a difference in the dizzy(if anything it's worse). I will say , however, that the neck tightness is all but gone... to tell the truth... it's been so long that my neck has felt that way.. that i can't tell wether it is normal, or i've simply adapted to the tight one. this dr. seems confident that he can cure me... let's see. i'll keep you guys posted.

Still waiting for results from my t3, t4 hypothyroid test... to see if the armour thyroid will help.

Also waiting results from my metals test... to see if the chelation worked.

i've been messed up for 1 year or more...i know how frustrating and hard this condition is clancybenjamin. You owe it to your self, to fight as hard as you can to stay in pre-med. this don't let this BS condition screw it up.

btw... do you feel "tingling" in your brain? I do.  Are you in poor condition (overweight or sedentary)? what an unecassary mess.

ekumuslim03, I feel exactly the same way. I mean, every single thing you said, down to the bottom tooth pain. Those not feeling real feelings have been the latest new symptom for me and they are freaking me out. I thought I was going crazy from staying home all the time, which I'm sure doesn't help but I physically do not feel like I can function as a normal human being. I feel like my thinking process is extremely messed up. I don't feel like I am the person I was before this began.

I am feeling especially crappy right now because I had soda/caffiene; or whatever it is in it that made me feel this way, after completely cutting it out of my diet, and damn do I regret it. So I'm still not sure if it's an adverse effect or absorbtion issue. Which leads me to ask if any of you feel worse after soda/caffiene or alcohol, especially the stronger stuff? I literally cannot think right now, and can no longer cope with alcohol.

Man, the tingling and brain fog is the worst symptom. I can't quite tell if its in my head or in my face sometimes... right behind my nose and around my eyes. In the past I had been diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis which is a generic swelling of the tissue in my throat. I recently requested an inhaler thinking that some of my symptoms were the swelling having possibly traveled a little further up in my sinuses... i take the inhaler and swallow it as opposed to breathing it in. This has tapered off about 50% of the symptom severity. It has not helped with the neck tightness and occasional numbness in my left shoulder and arm.
As a heads up I was extremely athletic before this started 7 months ago. In the gym 4 times a week lifting etc. The weakness and shakiness has kept me out of the gym and I have lost about 25 lbs.... not sickly yet still at 170 lol.

Sugar and Alcohol seem to make symptoms much worse.
