I was diagnosed with mono 2 years ago and was proclaimed healthy 6 months after when my liver values were back to normal, but i have been experiencing the same symptoms ever since (extreme fatigue, heavy head, vertigo, dizziness, balance issues, nausea, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping, blurred vision, watery eyes, restless an frequent sleeping, headaches etc. ) Sometimes i've been feeling better for a couple of weeks, but for the last couple of months the symptoms have been getting significantly worse, especially the vertigo nausea and extreme fatigue. I tend to sleep from 10-18 a day and it does not seem to improve the symptoms or leave me feeling refreshed/ not tired. I've heard that mono is a common trigger for chronic fatigue syndrome and was wandering if any f you has been diagnosed with it after mono/ have been experiencing the same symptoms. I am 20 years old and so tired of being constantly tired and not being able to do anything but lie down most of the day, and constantly fall asleep at inconvenient times.

Mercury, Parasites, and Yeast Oh my
I have many of the symptoms on this thread over the past 7 almost 8 years. Extremely debilitating doesn't remotely describe what I know you feel. I feel your pain. It's emotionally exhausting and physically exhausting and being unwell is hard work. This is what I've found to be true, after ruling out anything major going on, I've come to the conclusion that I have a systematic yeast infection or candida infection. I've also been treated for parasites. Because I've spent a lot of time inside laying down because I just feel like garbage...last year I also developed a Vitamin D deficiency. So you can stop now reading my mini novel and research "Candida infection Symptoms" "Parasite infection symptoms" "Vitamin D deficiency symptoms" and you'll probably be on the right track in one or all of those and have a "I have seen the light!!!" moment.
However I'm finding a hard time, hit a speed bump in the best way to treat a Systematic Candida Infection and it is not quite generally accepted by the medical community as being a serious problem. And products online seem to claim they can do more than they actually do. This is in my own experience. I am hoping you have a better one. Also research "Treatment for Cervical Neck Pain". I have found some of the excercises for whiplash recovery do help relieve some of the "headache feelings". If you've ever experienced any kind of drilling or pulling of teeth it is possible your trigeminal nerve could have been damaged and it can cause symptoms like, ear pain, sinus pain, dental pain, head ache, etc. Also you can get cervical headaches just from sitting in a certain position every day and/or stress. Most thorough treatment I've seen for that is from the "Texas Migraine Clinic" I found a video on You tube that was pretty helpful. Aside from that you're on own. I don't promote anyone's product I'm not here to sell or gain or give anything but experience.
When it all began, I had to have some dental work done. They didn't prescribe me with antibiotics, a week later I had strep throat and ended up at the hospital with 103 fever, they put me on antibiotics. I don't know if it was the strep virus or what but it led me to mono after dealing with that for......a while I don't know because I haven't recovered since. Because after that I was on a spiral, being a woman after taking antibiotics it caused a vaginal yeast infection. So then I went on treatment for that. That cleared up then I'd get an ear infection, go on antibiotics, that would clear then I'd get a vaginal yeast infection, treatment for that...then I'd get a sinus infection and get antibiotics for that. And then I had more dental work...antibiotics for that if you can see where I'm going with this it was very circular. This pattern has gone on for going on 8 years.
Back when I was in and out of dental treatments I finally realized I was being taken advantage of financially and had alot of work done I probably didn't even need. Then I found out how dangerous root canals can be, and this "amalgam" deal. I've gone to the extent of having all of my teeth removed even though I am in my 30's I chose that this was the best thing for my health after none of my root canals effectively treated the "infections" add a little toxic amalgam to the bottom of each root canal tip and I'm quite sure I suffered possibly still suffer from some level of mercury poisoning. After I had all of that stuff out of my mouth I immediately had less dizziness, I could hear better and I felt like I could even smell better. One issue of course was more antibiotics. Quick note, if you have mercury toxicity you will have an overgrowth of yeast because yeast shields the mercury to protect your body from further harm.
Back when I had my dizziness adventure, trying to find out why I was always dizzy or off balance. I went to an ENT they gave me a hearing test and an ear pressure test etc. etc. after all that he said nope no problems here ...it's an eye issue...went to the eye doctor.....nope no problems there it's a neurological problem. Went to a neurologist he made me walk across the room follow his flashlight with my eyes and squeeze his hands a couple times he says nope it's not neurological I think you are depressed. Are you depressed? Uh no. Okay well try this antidepressant it helps with some people who have "equilibrium issues" yeah ok (sarcastically)
2 summers ago it was a very hot summer and I didn't know why but my face swelled up pretty badly over my nose, forehead, and even my cheeks were swelling, red and hot to the touch. I went to the urgent care clinic, they said it was a sinus infection, got a nasal steroid, z pac, and antibiotics. The swelling continued for 2 months...I went to the hospital to get an xray of my sinuses and they said it was minimal congestion and referred me to an ENT here we go again. So I go to this ENT and he takes 1 look at the xray and says you don't have a sinus infection, you have allergies here take this nasal spray. He gave me a prescription for 1 year of a new nasal spray that just hit the market and sent me out the door. I promptly threw it in the trashcan. I don't want to be a guinea pig for a new product. The swelling actually continued for close to 1 year.
I then went to an allergist. So I started taking Zyrtec regularly. That helped a little. I cleaned my house like a madwoman when I could I was at war with allergens. None of my efforts seemed to help. And then of course over time of hearing it's this and take that for it. You feel hopeful but then when you don't get better you feel defeated and hopeless again. And I really hate this cycle.
I went to a specialist to have blood work done and ended up having a parasite infection and a tick borne disease. I was treated for 21 days with not just 1 antibiotic but 2 of them :) So I'm back to candida city. Taking probiotics for a while now to not much avail. Eating garlic like I am staving off vampires.
So that's where I'm at in my I am sick and tired of being sick and tired adventure. Questions/comments/ tactics/plan of attack very welcome here.

I am so frustrated, i really feel a sense of doom, like i am dying or something and the doctors dont care how you feel. It is starting to effect my life so much, i just want to feel better. I am going back to the doctors till i get some help, i hope you all finally get answers. Take care x

NOT A CURE. It's been a while since my last post. I was having all sorts of crazy symptoms (including dizziness) and during my testing, one of my MRI's stumbled upon a pititary gland tumor. holy c**p!!!!
So anyways. after finding the benign tumor, i focussed all my efforts on my tumor, in hopes that if i took care of the tumour that all my issues would be cured. Nope. after 9 months,i had finally got an appointment with the Neuro Surgeon who told me the tumour had nothing to do with my balance issues.... and went on to discredit everything i found online, about pituitary tumours.
this is how sh@*y our balance issues are. I was excited to have a brain tumour. The tumour, gave me hope that i might fell normal again oneday. good news is that my tumour is shrinking. bad news is that i still have a ton of symptoms...including: balance, weird smell, uncoordination, swollen hands and feet, slurred speech.etc.
I really don't know where to go now. i guess meybe back to the start.... get the opinions of some new doctor's. I hate to admit that i have to look into Spinal Ataxia and Parkinsons.... both of which are scary and inccurable.... sh@ty. i'll try looking into a sinus issue... but i doubt it at this point.
I believe this weird smell in my nose is the main clue. it is the one symptom that seems a little peculliary out of place.
Anyways... I didn't come here to freak the pants off of everyone. sorry if i did. I came back to the forum in hopes somebody had found an answer to all of our dizziness issues.
Good luck to us all.

I've gone through 5 yrs of getting over ME. Forget medical doctors. They have their place but stuff like this and what you are writing about is NOT it. If they can't find a pill for covering up the symptoms then they don't care and will fob you off. I am training as a kinesiologist. Kinesiology is the one thing that has taught me about my illness and why it happened. There's so much emotion tied to illness and symptoms like the ones you have explained, which is why your blood results may come back fine, but you do not FEEL fine!! Come see me if you're interested and close by. I'm in the SE London area. Or if that's too far for you then let me know and i'll recommend someone who is if I can. A good kinesiologist along with your will to amend stuff they suggest will get you on the road to recovery. The important thing to do is to start believing that you will get over this. The body goes wrong in a certain order and it then likes to be put back together in a certain order and there is an underlying reason to it all. Wishing you good health. anya 'underscore' lukover 'at' yahoo 'dot' co 'dot' uk

I am writing today in hopes of revealing a possible cause to why we all have felt like this. For the last year I have shared almost all of the symptoms described here.
It wasn't until an opened wall in my bedroom revealed what very likely has been the reason of my feeling like this:
A dead racoon...INCHES from where I slept every night. The chemicals emitted from the decomposing creature created what is best described as intoxicating affects. Dizzy, vertigo, nausea, muscle aches, flu like symptons, eye strain.
While this sounds outlandish, please check your homes for air quality. What you could be experiencing is anything from vapor, fumes, carbon monoxide, to gas inhalation. I would have NEVER believed it until I saw it with my own eyes. We never smelled it because of the ventilation system and the hole to outside. I am so so greatful we did.
Good luck to everyone and speedy recoveries to all.

I do sympathise with you. I too have had similar symptoms for the past 8 months and I seem to be getting worse the past 2 months not better. I have had blood tests, neck x-ray, CT scan and an eye test and nothing has been found. I have paid and gone private and my GP and my private doctor both say I have vestibular Neuritis. I would not wish my symptoms on my worst enemy. My life has changed dramatically in the past 8 months but I am still greteful to be amongst the living and for the life I do have. The dizziness I am learning to manage and get used to but the fatigue and strained head is almost unbearable most days and I feel like I am loosing my mind to be honest. It has been over 6 years since you posted this message and I would like to know if your situation has improved and how life is for you know. Thanks. Jason from Cardiff Wales.
