I hope someone can help me.....I have had vaginal bleeding off and on for the last three months....my last episode started on Nov. 1st and lasted till the 14th....it was heavy (having to change my pad every hour and alot of times while wearing a tampon and pad bleeding threw at 1-1/2 hrs.) and bright red....just before that about ten days I had, had my normal period, so I was not due for that. Now just 12 days later I started bleeding again, not so heavy but bright red and clotty. I am 39 and on coumadin. I have had my levels checked and they are right where they need to be. I have just recently with this last bleed associated it with when I have to really strain with a bowel movement. I have to do this often, I am guessing not enough water in my diet, I get constipated alot. Could my staining so hard actually cause me to bleed from my vagina? and if so why do I bleed for so long afterwards? I also am pretty possitive that I have that rectocele, cause sometimes I have to push up and the area between my vagina and rectum to get the bowel movement to come out. But even with this why am I bleeding for weeks at a time? I have had a pap done after the 14 day bleed, still waiting on those results. There is some cramping not alot. But it is like I am having two week long heavy periods every two weeks....Thankx for any advice

Hi there,

The same thing is happening with me. I thought I was getting my period, but now I am not so sure. After a bowel movement, I get vaginal bleeding that is clotty and then the bleeding lessens to nothing until I have another bowel movement.

I had the same thing happen to me within the past year. The first "spell" that I had started off with heavy bleeding after a strained bowel movement, then after a few days I would bleed even just after urinating, and then a few days after that I was just bleeding constantly!! I don't believe that the second time this happened was as bad as the first, though. I, too, have had a problem with constipation my whole life, but the scary thing is I am only 19! I suppose this is probably an extremely rare occurrence for a 19 year old...it can't be normal. My mother, who is 40 years older than me, had to have surgery for a rectocele and something else a few years ago, but it seems crazy to me that at 19 I would be facing the same thing she was at 55?? I went to see a gynochologist a few days after one of the spells, but she didn't really see anything wrong; the only thing she said was that I had a "fragile" cervix. For one, my boyfriend and I had not had sex in about a month prior to that appointment I believe, and two, I don't see how a little bump from deep penetration could cause a 2-week heavy bleed! Needless to say, I didn't believe that; I knew some part of info was missing and there had to be something else going on...
I would love to know if any of you ever found out what was REALLY going on! Thank you. :-)

I had a similar thing aged 25 , I lost so much blood over a short period with lots of clots I required a blood transfusion
The bleeding still persisted without a known cause but after much back and forth an mri scan showed I had a fibroid in my cervix that required surgery to remove
They were surprised about the location (outside the womb) and my age
All has been fine till recently aged 36 I have started to get bright red blood although quite light upon urination or bowel movement and I suspect the cervix is what is bleeding , there is no pain but I think I'll get checked out

I too have this. It's not every time I ope my bowels but it is most times. It's like a pinky red blood. I went to my nurse who said she could see 2 polyps, so i made appointment with my gp and gues what no polyps to be seen on examination. Now been refered to a gynecologist been examined and still no polyps on examination. They were discussing between each other that there is what looks like a tear there etc but not on the cervix. She said I have an abnormal looking cervix but that's more than likely due to me having had 2 children which were both over 9lb in weight. I have since had sti checks and all were negative as I no chlamydia can cause irregular bleeding to occur. I have an appointment to go back and see the gynaecologist in march so fingers crossed we will get some answers. I will keep you all informed.

I had this problem, along with abnormal bleeding. Nothing was seen with tests other than a slightly thickened uterine lining. My doctor did surgery, not sure of what they would find and it was polyps in my uterus. The doctor removed them and tested them for cancer. It was negative. Anyone with abnormal bleeding needs to work closely with their doctor to find the cause.

I'm going to the OBGYN on Wednesday for an ultrasound and results of bloodwork, I am hoping to have at least one person's answer for you...
I am 33, my story is much like the rest of yours, chronic constipation, red, clotty discharge/spotting upon straining to void, causing cramping and a 'relapse' of my menstruation only a week or days after its proper occurrence. I have had 2 cesarean births due to complications in my medical history and one ectopic pregnancy which ruptured my fallopian tube and caused me to band the other so I am unable to have children at this point.
Personally, I have has complex cysts on my ovaries before in my 20's that had caused some irregular bleeding. The symptoms are not the same so I am hesitant to think of this as the cuprite, but I don't know for sure. I suppose we will find out. Thank you.
