I get these too. My understanding is that they are cysts. Bartholin's gland cysts are fluid-filled cysts that form on the Bartholin's glands. The glands sit on each side of the labia and lubricate it with fluid. The ducts to the glands can become clogged, and then a cyst will develop where the gland is located because the fluid can't drain like usual. The cyst is very painful, and it will generally resolve by rupturing. It is not an STD. It's more closely related to a pimple, but a lot worse. They can get to be large sores. I've read of glands having to be surgically removed.

I have them on the labia and also the outer parts on my legs close to the vagina. I don't know how to stop them. I even have one on my upper thigh and two really bad ones on my stomach. Dr's always told me my hormone levels are off and its no big deal but to me they are. They are painful and hard to explain to my partner. They are hard and pus filled. I have tried to pop them and remove the pus but they never fully go all the way down and away. Does anyone have any ideas? I know it's not sti I was just checked two months ago and came back clean. I did however have pre cancerous cells removed 5 years ago so I'm really scared!!

I am a 40 year old woman and I get blood blisters on my labia as well. After they heal they leave a bruised scar looking area kinda purpleish. Sometimes they have puss more often they are just blood filled. My doctor told me it was because of the chemicals in the pads. I used always pads also. I used them for long irregular periods and also some stress incontinence. I also am heavy and it is the sweat and rubbing. I tried to pop these blisters once as they they get very painful and feel like pressure. However sometimes they wont drain or if they do it just fills up with blood again. I am sure It is NOT an STD. I have been married for 22 years and my husband and I have only ever been with each other. We have been tested for all kinds of things and those tests are negative. I also shower every day sometimes twice it is not from being dirty either. Personally I just switched brands of pad and it seems to be better.
