Hello,

I am 22 years old, male, and I have the problem that I have to urinate very frequently. To be more precise I manage to resist to not urinate for a relatively long time (about 4-5 hours, and fortunately I don't suffer from nocturia), the problem is that if I urinate, the necessity to urinate a second time, even if not strong, comes after a few minutes (sometimes after a few seconds)...

There is no pain while I urinate, in the other hand sometimes I feel a strong pain in the zone of the prostate (I think but I'm not sure, maybe is the bladder) after ejaculating, and this pain continues for about 15-20 minutes.

I don't think that this whole situation is related to an infection or to psychological stress, infact it has been going on for more than 3-4 years (I know, it's a lot of time, at the beginning I thought that it was a passing situation, but now it is getting worse), instead I think that it is related to masturbation, infact if a day or two I don't masturbate the need to go to the bathroom lowers (but only a bit). And as I said, sometimes i feel that pain after masturbating.
Besides every time I masturbate I have to stop 2 or 3 times because I feel the need to urinate.

Do you think it is a chronic inflammation of the prostate related to masturbation or it can be something else (urethritis, cistitis etc...)? Does a cure exist or I have to stop masturbating? Can I develop a tumor?

Well some would argue the fact that masturbation is actually rather healthy for your prostate. Now a decrease in stream, straining to go, and the constant urge to urinate are normally common signs of a prostate problem. Other wise if you have been paying attention to your urine, if its rather cloudy, if it hurts any bit, feels a bit odd, it could be a UTI. Now here is where it starts getting better. If its a UTI or inflamed prostate, there are medications to help clear it up. The only thing with an inflamed prostate is if its acute or not. Your doctor should be able to figure it out with a blood test, urine sample, and prostate exam. Now I know what you may be thinking, OH NO A PROSTATE EXAM. Thats exactly what I thought when I had been going through a rough time of urinating blood and blood clots after ejaculation. When I had mine, all I felt was a bit of pressure, no pain, nothing. Good luck, I hope you get better.
