I had the ablation done Sept 2012 at the age of 40. I have virtually no periods....yay for that! I think my "monthly migraines" are worse. I am puffy and bloated all the time, so much that I don't wear my rings. Terribly moody all the time, not just the few days before my period. I have gained about 5-7 lbs mostly in my middle. I think the ablation has caused a hormone imbalance. Time for my yearly check up and I will ask for blood work. Wondering if it can throw you in to early menopause. Good luck!

I too have gained weight in the stomach area, completely lost my avid sex drive, and am as dry as the desert outside down there. I was shocked, as nothing I read hinted at this. I'm depressed now and losing a great relationship because of the last thing I'd ever think of before the procedure (Dec 2010. I had so much energy despite my heavy periods and anemia. Now I feel like a snail dragging around a growing shell.

The unfortunate part about the ablations most women have is that they're all being done about the same time women are going through menopause or perimenopause. I had an ablation done about 8 years ago. I had gained about 10 pounds before the procedure, mostly because of disruption to my workout routine. After the ablation, i went back to my workout routine and lost the 10 pounds. I will tell you, it wasn't easy. I never cheat. I have basically the same foods every day. Oatmeal and berries for breakfast, a salad for lunch with broiled chicken, and steamed fish with vegetables for dinner. No sweets, no breads, no fun. I think it's all about age and menopause, and the fact that we have more time to cook and dine out. The calories add up. Take a look at all the over 50 Hollywood women. Their bodies are much different at 50 than they were at 30. Women (and men) tend to take on that "lollipop" look, with a big belly and the legs appear thinner as you lost muscle mass and the weight shifts to the belly. I wish it didn't happen, but it's nature, and it's really difficult to counter it. I'm 53, and have gained only about 6 pounds since my college days, but like I said, it's not easy, I never cheat. I'm lucky in that I'm not a "foodie". But I work out about an hour a day with cardio, another half hour with weights, and I do yoga every chance I get.

I had mine at 35. But I already had 2 children, and had a tubal. I was never told I was to young. I had periods that would last for 45 days then go off for 2 weeks and start again. They only thing I was told was to make sure I did not want to have any more children. Since I had the tubal I was sure no more. and had the procedure 2 weeks later. It was great I did not have any side effects, barley any pain. I have experienced weight gain, which I did not know was a side effect ( I always had issues with weight) But now 6 years later, I just had what I would call my 1st period out of the blue. This is why I came looking for information on this procedure.

Hope I am not too late to add my opinion, I would suggest doing extensive research first becuase the Dr.s only tell you the positive effecrs.
I had a rollerball ablation done May 2011, I was told that it would resolve my heavy bleeding. I gained 30 lbs havent stopped bleeding and it's unpredictable if it's going to be heavy light or for how long. My stomach has also increased in size to what looks like a 6 month pregnancy. I could tell something was wrong immediatley within the month after I have been dismissed by my physician doing the procedure and 3 others.
I have finally found someone who is willing to listen and has aknowledged that my complaints are not unherard of and are not uncommon. The sad part of this delay is they don't know what complications I may be dealing with or to what extreme I may need to go to do repair. (hysterectomy?)
This may work for some but not for all and we should be educated when it doesn't work the complications that go with it and what you are faced with.

I had Nova Sure procedure 6 months ago and I've gained 25 lbs. I tend to have alot of bloating and swelling. Can't wear my rings most of the time. My eating habbits haven't changed. I haven't had a period since the procedure. But I wouldn't have had the procedure if I had known about the weight gain.

Now I know I should have had nature take its course. In 1996 I was the 4 to have a thermal ablation. My gyno suggested it since I was having a tumor removed from one of my ovaries. I was 48 & had no other problems before this. He said my insurance would cover it since he was already in there. I wasn't ready to go thru menopause according to blood tests, but I decided to have it done (no more periods "yay" I thought.) I was always around 110-115 lbs @ only 5'2" that was perfect. Since it was a new procedure at the time there were no listed after affects of weight gain noted. I started gaining weight immediately after surgery, but never made the connection. Now I am 100 lbs overweight and mostly in the belly area. I have tried everything to lose, but always come back to 214 lbs which is ridiculous for my height. After reading all the posts, I am going to made an appointment with the same place who did this to me. At least I don't feel alone anymore. Thanks to all of you who shared.

Hello. Your experience sounds so similar to mine. I have steadily gained 3 pounds a month since EA. No change in diet or exercise. I am up 32 pounds, I have never weighed this much even 9 months pregnant. Have you found any relief?

I'm sorry you are feeling like this. I have had unexplained weight gain since my EA, too. And a lot of fatigue. I have never felt like this, it is miserable. Have you found anything to help?
