Holy Moly! That just happened to me, which is why I'm commenting now- cause I looked it up and found this! I figured that's what it was, but was greatly disturbed by the experience. Like the initial post, I didn't completely eliminate it while using the bathroom.. It was at the end of what looked like a healthy fiberous poop. I had to manually remove the rest. OMG that was an experience I really don't want again. It's as if it was the lining of my intestines that had collapsed in on itself and then was pulled out. Is this going to happen ever so often? Should I expect this again? Or is this a product of not drinking enough water? Yuuuuuuuck.

So it's not a dead worm? But possibly the left over of Metamucil or prune led to help keep me regular?

I was constipated for two days and forgot my normal herbs that I take at home, water wasn't moving me and I even tried to have a latte to get myself to go. My friend offered metamucil fibre supplement but I still wasn't able to go until I finally got home to my herbs. My stool came out floating and it looked really weird, like a stringy ball? So I put gloves on and the texture shocked me, it was as if i ate loads of chewing gum and had this stretchy nature when pulling apart. Kind of like raw dough just in poo form. My stool has never been like that. It has always disintegrated when I flushed. After reading the comments, I know it was the metamucil. This can't be healthy.

It's happened to me a couple of times. It was like I'd swallowed two or three sticks of chewing gum. I had to take tissue and literally pull it out of my rectum. I lnow, i know; too much information, LOL. Just make sure you drink plenty of water while taking Metamucil or something similar.

Honestly it just happed to me. I was like "omg what nooo!" Thinking it was a tape worn!! EEEEEEWW!!! BUT NOPE. It was 100% psyllium fiber. Just a wierd gross thing that happend. I also asked an RN friend and she said that bulking fiber will clump together sometimes JUST LIKE THAT and said it pushes through your system better if you blend it up in a shake and not just take a scoop of it mixed in a cup of water. Omg my heart jumped.

Thank goodness that I found this! I have been having the same issue & thought I had some kind of worms or something. My doctor told me to start Metamucil 2X a day and I have been taking it for about 2 weeks. I wish that I had been told about this so I wouldn't have been freaked out.

Boy do I feel better. I have been really worried when this happened to me. It was about 4 inches long and flat, cream colored. I had to pull it out! I had just started taking Metamucil and thought that maybe it caused this. I was worried that my intestines were coming out!!!! Anyway, I feel much better. It has not happened since.

I’m so glad I found this! I’ve been taking Metamucil for about a month, once or twice a day before meals for blood sugar regulation. I recently started having bowl movements that look stringy and stretchy, sometimes didn’t come all the way out, and looked like worms or intestinal lining. I was super freaked out because google said that intestinal mucus might be colon cancer, or I might have parasites! But the timing totally lines up with starting a higher fiber diet and Metamucil, so this is a relief to mind out other people are experiencing the same thing.
