You must drink a lot of water as water keeps everything lubricated. Have you asked your doctor if you can use a stool softner? Dulcolax has one that is pretty gentle. Also Miralax is good too. I wouldn't use a laxative as this may be to abrasive so soon after your procedure.
You are ingesting a lot if fiber by using the Metamucil and the prunes produce a laxative affect, but the bananas i myself would question.
For me, bananas act as a binder and they tend to constipate, but that's me. Try some prune juice as well, if you can stand the taste %-) which by the way, you can delute a little with apple juice to kill the pruney taste. Also maybe you can try some apple cider, straight cider, not juice. Warm it and just sip at it in a coffee cup. Apple cider always gets me going.

Hi jcanboy, how are things doing now? Are you having better movements since following BBfeet's advice? If you drink milk, that could cause some intestinal disruption so I would recommend staying away from it. How are you otherwise?

I find that part of my issue with slow movement is lack of internal contractions from being sedentary. You need to retrain / stimulate your intestinal wall muscles and I understand chewing gum can help, as well as build saliva which mixes with the stomach juices to introduce enzymes in the stomach to help digest food that may not have been digesting if you have a enzyme deficiency. I found that Pearls probiotics can help a lot with smooth regular defecation. That is worth looking into. Regarding the gum make sure the mint does not bother you (or artifical sweeteners which can also harm your stomach) and that you drink water when you feel dehydrated. I hope that helps.
