Anybody have any experience with narrow saddles? I've got a Terry saddle on my commuter and the sides of the nose are wearing away. I was wondering if a narrower saddle were in my future.

What's the point of a nose on a bicycle seat anyway? You really aren't sitting on the end of the nose anyway...

I sit on the nose a lot. My sit bones are really sensitive (Poor me with sensitive sit bones. ) so I tend to scoot forward and sit on the nose a lot.
John, I have the Aspide tri gel, which has a WIDER nose. It took me a while to get use to it, but I find when I'm in the aero position it is much more comfy to have a little extra padding there...
The Aspide cost me over 100 bucks, so I don't recommend it if you like a narrow saddle.
Just a note. I ride with my knees hitting the top tube and I have not worn the saddle. The shorts are different, those I have wear marks on.

PH rides in a thong, no shorts to mark up... :P
My friend has had some real trouble with her arms lately, and she was told by some mechanics that her the nose was turned down too far and thus she was having to compensate to not slide off the seat by using her arms too much. So I guess its sort of for support?
That said, PH, that thing looks like a 2X4!!!! :umno: :twocents:

I test rode a Cannondale that had the big brother to that saddle (Azoto). Man was it comfy. I was wearing street clothes and it felt great even then. I just don't know if long-term, it will work for me or I'll end up tearing up the nose.

I doubt you could do anything to the nose. I have better than 4000 miles on it and I use a bathing suit tri bottom so I bodyglide between my legs and the saddle is perfect. it is a little sctratchy (It is made of a wierd foamy fabric.) but it quickly smooths out. Sorta like cordaroy(sp) pants.
I love this saddle. the Ti rails don't slip and the saddle fits me nice.

That thing is bigger then my car seat.
I have never ridena rec. but I bet it's a blast. We had some guy in our Sat. morning ride that had a rec.. He would bust his arse to keep up with, which he did mostly, but he sure was dangerous if you were behind him. All that speed made him very squirrelly.

i have just moved to using the forte pro sl saddle... really narrow nose... i have no complaints.
as it is a much narrower than my previous saddle, it took some getting used to, before my sits bones weren't so sore.
