I often got comments of being crazy for getting up at 500 on a January morning with snow on the ground and sub zero temps.

Most of all, they respect the fact that I was dedicated to keeping myself fit

My friends have nicknames for me.....like "muscle woman". I got that one after carrying someone heavier than me up the stairs ( piggyback rides, we do them all the time :D )

Most of my friends run. And I'm lucky - my hubby runs with me too. Helps when your s/o workouts out with you! But those that don't run usually respond more with "good for you, I wish I could do that".

Most think I'm a nut but in a good way. My 19 yr old nephew has caught the running bug now and my sister is thrilled by the fact. My gf, even though a non-runner, is very supportive of me although she's concerned about some of the longer distance racing I'm hoping to do this year. My x never attended a race, never offered a supportive comment and only showed interest in my racing when I'd occasionally collect a nice prize for an age group win.

I've got a few friends that run, but most do not. You wouldn't know I'm a runner in any sense if you didn't know it already - I'm a bit chunky. When I tell people who don't know, they are more amazed that I actually run than me being crazy.
