Hi Rebecca,
I'll try to answer seeing as it has been awhile since you posted this question but I am not that knowledgeable about it I am just going to get you thinking about life style changes and such.
OK. It is sometimes normal for females to go through a period of not getting your period. It's completely normal and healthy, I'll tell you why. When I was younger I went a whole year with no period and I was not sexually active at the time either so I have no idea why that happened, I even went to the family doctor and a gynecologist and had so many tests done and they never found an answer. Eventually one day it came back. One thing that could have lead to that was a car accident I had A MAJOR STRESS TO THE BODY sometimes can delay the period like that.
Body weight can affect the period. The female body's one design is to procreate and if you are not a healthy body weight sometimes your body goes into defense mode and protects it against that happening all on its own. You need a healthy weight to sustain a pregnancy and to give the fetus life giving nutrients and such.
Like I already said stress. Stress can do so many things to the body in damaging it, mimics pregnancy symptoms and takes periods away. Stress can make you lose weight therefore affecting the period negatively.
Exercise or over-exercising and not enough body fat. A healthy diet. Endometriosis and Fibroids (your internal lady parts). Premature ovarian failure (this is very rare and uncommon though).
I may be missing something but I think you get the drift of where I am going with this. Start thinking beyond pregnancy.
Good luck and hope this helps somehow
