Hello,

I’ve been having issues with overactive bladder for years and most causes have been ruled out, but my urologist thinks it just might be due to my age and that my pelvic floor muscles weakened. Whatever the cause, I can’t go anywhere without knowing there will be available bathroom, since I have the urge every 20 minutes or so.

I’m currently on Detrol which did help somewhat, but I’m constantly having the dry mouth and constipation. My new urologist gave me a sample for Enablex and I’ve been taking it for the last three days, but I’m still not noticing much difference.

Hi,

as someone who has similar issues with weakened pelvic floor muscles - you definitely need to give Enablex more time to become effective, because once it does it's definitely far better in many ways than Detrol.

Enablex actually helped me to finally get at least some rest from constant bathroom trips - I'm talking a difference between every 10-15 minutes on Detrol, to perhaps once an hour on Enablex. It does cause dry mouth, but Detrol did that for me as well, but it's something I'm willing to live with.

Hello,

the person before me is completely right: you need to give Enablex a bit more time for it to become fully effective. Once it did, at least for me, it wasn't even once every hour I needed to go, it was at least at the start sometimes even just regularly like once every few hours. But then again, they haven't figured out the cause for my overactive bladder (and I don't have weakened pelvic muscles).

One more thing - you might want to talk with your urologist about adding Vesicare to Enablex, if you haven't been on vesicare already. This combination helped me a great deal to eliminate the constant sense of urgency to go I had.
