Ok so here are my symptoms:
1. extreme thirst - I drink at least 12 or more 16 oz water bottles
2. extreme hunger - This only happens occasionaly, but when it does it lasts for about 2 months and it does not matter what i eat, after i eat i am still hungry like i did not eat anything at all
3. frequent urination - I feel like i need to pee all the time and so I am constantly going to the bathroom, however, sometimes i can't pee and when i do it hurts really bad, also it is a darkish yellow not what you would expect for me drinking a bunch of water
4. Not tired at night but can't wake up in the morning and fall asleep during the day
5. not enough energy to be as active as i was
6.not losing or gaining weight
I have looked up type one diabetes, but not all the symptoms match up. the big thing is that i have had some of theses symptoms for over a year and they go away and come back, but i have never gotten sick like others who have type one have. Also i have read that it is all quick symptoms for type one but mine have not been, they are graduall and go away then come back. I am 18 years old and healthy for my age. no one in my family has type one but my mom and g grandma have type two as well as my grandma on my dad's side. my parents say it can't be diabetes because i don't have all the symptoms. What to do? will insurance cover a diabetes testing? we have tricare standered insurance. Anyway thanks for all the help.

You don't have Type 1, but I will bet everything I have that you have Type II! IF you had Type 1 you would have been in a coma by now! Your symtpoms of Type II diabetes are CLASSIC! I do not understand the insurance system in the States, but having your blood tested is very easy! Check with your pharmecist to see if they do it too! You will need to watch what you eat and perhaps take a pill such as Gluconorm - which keeps your sugars regulated! In the mean time, if you feel thirsty drink water - I REALLY don't like the idea of Diet Soda as they Contain Aspertaime!! Anyways find out how to get checked and follow what the diabetic counsellors say! And plase let me know how you make out OK? Good luck honey!

Can you get type two diabetes if you are healthy and at a healthy weight and losing weight still? my mom is a type two but she was obese. I am 5'5 and weight about 140 pounds which is lighter for my height. Maybe this is all nothing. Anyway sometime next week I am going to get tested. I will let you know about how this turns out.

Even though Type 2 can rear it's head when people are overweight, it is VERY common in people that have it in the family! OR their mothers suffered from Gestational Diabetes! It can also happen from illness! You just need to keep an eye on it!
