My husband just had a 2+ hr episode with a mini-stroke or TIA not sure how identified. He couldn't talk well left side frozen on face around mouth, gate in walking off and balance and I took him right to the hospital 2miles away. Things started coming back after about 2+hrs but they transferred him to a larger hospital 2 1/2 hrs away. There they did more testing and I got to bring him home. 6 weeks ago he had an episode with no vision a TIA - 2 aspirin and it improved and he would NOT go to ER. Now he had this bigger one. The appt today when he called was to setup his surgery for carotid artery - he refused surgery schedule and said he wanted more information and had to talk to his (so so) doctor. When he had all the testing 6 weeks ago and the one on the carotid the right side was over 85% and they told him he had time before surgery. Now he has had a bigger situation. I am not happy with his doctor as he should have been sent to the vascular doctors then to further check this. 5 years ago it was the left side and pretty much same situation with speech and gait. My question is what percentage is considered surgery to be scheduled. Thank you
