I have been in martial arts since I started walking, I guess. My father is a great aikido master so I think that I did my first steps on tatami. Anyway, I practice now every day and I am often exhausting my body. I use a lot of vitamins, I try to eat healthy ( I succeed most of the time in that) but I am somewhat concerned about food supplements I take. What side effects could high dose vitamin C cause?

Well, there are several side effects, including increased risk of getting kidney stones. But, you have said that you practice hard, which means that you probably need somewhat bigger amount of C for your body. Researches have shown that people who take more than 1500mg in a day have higher risk of experiencing kidney problems. If you are concerned, perhaps you could run some lab tests and determine your bodys state.

When i feel the onset of a cold or any sickness coming on..i take mega doses of vitamin C. but take the recommended amount of goldenseal to team up with it.Almost always wipes out my symptoms within a day or 2. Or sometimes, at least, it makes my symptoms less severe than someone else with the same virus.
