Hello, I am dealing with heart issues. I have arteriosclerosis on left coronary artery (obstruction over 80%). Doctors are thinking about what procedure to perform , double or triple bypass surgery. I don’t know the difference between those two, then again, I don’t even know what is bypass surgery. Can you give me any hint?

Bypass surgery is an open heart surgery. Depending on the percentage of obstruction of the artery, double or triple bypass is performed. Heart gets its food and oxygen via three coronary arteries, if the bypass is done on two arteries it is double bypass, if it is done on all three branches, then it is triple bypass.
