My response is a year later because I just found this group. I am not going to recommend lying to your spouse either. I do say If you are truly ready to leave the narcotics alone for sure, then let him know that you are addicted. You don't have to go into detail about how many you are taking each day, just say I believe I am experiencing withdrawals and I hate how I feel. That's the bottom line! Then, begin to do the work. I was told by my doc that I'd always have to take pain meds due to degeneration of my spine. I'm not buying that.
One thing I found that helped me tremendously was first PRAYER!!!!!!!! Then, I realized, prayer without work doesn't do diddly :-) So, instead of taking the entire prescribed dosage when I realize I am down to my last 10, I begin to taper off. My body tells me what dosage is too uncomfortable. However, each day I take less and less. My last five days are down to less than half a pill. Another thing, I told my doctor I have withdrawals. She prescribed me Gabupatin, which I could not tolerate at all at first because it made me soooooooo sleepy. Now, I still get a little woozy but not as bad any more and I found that they help me stay sleep at night and they surely take most of the withdrawal away than GOD! I hope this helps.
