i'm 161cm and i weighed myself today and i'm only 44kg, give or take a kg or 2
i'm not anorexic but i probably don't eat enough or as often as i should
i'm usually between 46-50 kg but i only realised today how light i am
and for the first time in months i'm on the 30th day and haven't have my period.
i'm a virgin so no chance of pregnancy, so is my weight stopping my period?
what are the risks of that if it is?
thanks

Weight loss definitely is one of the major causes for your period to become irregular or even absent because eating irregularly or not eating the right amount of all the food your body needs to function properly causes major hormonal imbalance when there is a lack of some nutrient like vitamin or mineral that your body needs. I really would recommend that you visit your family doctor and do the basic blood tests so that even if you don’t eat regularly you still know whether you should take some kind of supplements. Lack of vitamins or some other important substance can have much worse consequences, irregular periods are just a sign that something is not right and that you need to find out exactly what is wrong.

Yeah I'd definately try and force yaself to get your eating on track and they should come back in no time. My periods stopped for 5 months out of the blue when I was 17. I had a bit of an eating disorder at the time, but didnt drop a huge amount of weight (approx. 1 stone-about 6kg i think that works out as - so i suppose that does sound like a lot). I went to the docs for other reasons & this was mentioned - i wasnt pregnant - the doc didnt seem v. worried as i was still young and sometimes your periods will be normal one minute then off the next. Stress can also stop them. But i think if you focus your efforts on eating healthy and plenty you should get them back soon enough, then you'll be wishing them away again, hehe! Take care x
