FYI To remove the discharge from your panties - spray or drizzle Hydrogen Peroxide on the stain a few minutes (to hours) before washing.

Thank you all for your posts. I am 50 years old and have been having constant discharge for quite a while. It seems like we are all in the same age group/stage of life which is comforting to know I'm not the only one.

Thank you all for your posts. I was beginning to wonder what was wrong. I noticed this all fairly soon after having a new partner, and I thought it was him. I have had some problems with UTI's, BV and yeast infections, but the discharge persisted even when taking the medicine. I have gone to the GYN just about monthly, and when I ask specifically about menopause, no one seems to want to address my questions, especially since I still get my period in full force. The last time I went, I tested negative for everything and the gyn had nothing to say when I asked about the discharge. It seems to come and go.
If this helps anyone, what I do now, is take Vitamin C, cranberry and probiotics daily. At night, before I go to bed, I drink a glass of kefir. If symptoms seem to get worse, or sometimes if I just don't feel right, I take 2 cloves of raw garlic for a couple of days, which help also. It seems to keep things under control for me. Also, I occasionally add apple cider vinegar to my bathwater, or rinse with it.
Isn't it amazing how so many women complain about the same symptoms, yet the doctors seem to be clueless.......

My discharge is the same, except mine has a yellow tint to it instead of blood. i don't have night sweats as far as I know. It has been over 90 degrees here for over a month so I hope my sweating is related to that.

White discharge with a different smell when I urinate. I'm 54. It's nice to not have my periods anymore but I have to say I'm not impressed with the medical professionals. My female physician said my ph level was low based on the paper smear. I went on antibiotics and it was fine for awhile, but the smell and frequent discharge is back. Don't know what to think. More antibiotics or us this normal? It's comforting to know other women are talking about this....

I'm 49 hadn't had a period for nearly a year then came on with a full proper period which lasted 8 days since finishing I'm now having non stop watery discharge that is so heavy I'm soaking through long, thick night-time or maternity towels in half an hour I keep getting cramps, back pain and twingesvin my ovaries thinking I've come on again but its just watery discharge. I used to get this for a few days before my periods were due now I'm getting it at the end. I'm literally feeling like I'm sitting in a puddle. As my mother had extremely heavy vaginal bleeding and flooding and seemed to be on all the time I'm really worried that now my periods have started again after going nearly a year with no periods that I'm going to get the same. I also have suspected endemetriosis with weight gain and excess facial hair Weill I too get very, very heavy periods and flooding as well does anyone know?

To see that I'm not alone in this situation is a comfort. But, disapointed in no solution. I started taking AZO i have no infections but, it helps to ease up the discharge and odor.
I'm 46 yrs and in pre menopause and no one has answers or suggestions on why my experience is opposite of 98% of the rest of women going through this stage. I'm so worried about all the extra wetness that I rarely let my boyfriend even fondle me.

I am 63 yo and experiencing the menopause for 13 yrs. It's a relief to know that I am not alone in experiencing a white discharge. I haven't seen a dr yet as I guessed it had something to do with my hormonal imbalance, I also have fibroids. I am sooo disappointed to be having period like symptoms, I thought that was all behind me, I don't wear tampons because I feel that might aggravate it but use panty liners instead, luckily there is no odour but it still fells uncomfortable. I am thinking of returning to taking cranberry tablets. I find that using live yoghurt is great for thrush although it's a bit messy. I have not been sexually active for nearly a year so have no use for vaginal discharge and just find it really annoying. I love being a woman but could do without the ongoing side effects, if this is a normal part of the menopause I just wish it would stop already. Hot flushes for the past 13 years is enough. From reading the other posts it seems that the drs do not have any answers so if anyone does please share it. Good luck ladies.

Thank heavens someone else is having excessive milky to clear discharge around 53... Still have my period, it's so frustrating! I was wondering if it's hormones too! Going to Dr today... Shell probably say it's normal, I don't feel sick?

Hello ladies,
I'm so glad I searched this topic because I thought I was the only one going through this! I'm a 51 yo woman who is probably premenopausal. I also happen to be a doctor, but I'm a pediatrician, so this is definitely not my area of expertise, but I have enough medical knowledge to be concerned about this discharge that I've had for two years! I've seen the OB-GYN several times for this, and every time they tell me my tests are normal except for a little yeast. I've done yeast treatments, antibiotics, and even pH balancing suppositories. Everything will work for about a few days, then the disgusting discharge comes back with a vengeance. My hormones are in good levels still, and I don't really have hot flashes, but I'm emotional, and fatigued, so I know the menopausal process has started. But ladies, I may have an answer. I do think this is caused by a hormonal imbalance, but I think I found something that might help everyone. It's an Ayurvedic treatment called Shatavari. I bought it from Herb Pharma on Amazon. It stopped the discharge, and it extended my cycle from an aggravating every 21 days, to a pleasant 35 days. There was one unacceptable side effect. I bled like a slaughtered pig during my period. Because of that, I stopped taking it, and of course, the discharge came back after a few weeks. It really was a godsend, though. Hopefully, some of you might benefit from it. Another thing, is that I've been drinking lemon and celery water (at least 96-120 ounces per day) for the last two years. I did read that having an acidic environment could give rise to yeast infections in women. The water is supposed to have an alkalinizing effect on the body, but maybe it does something different to the vagina. I'm going to stop doing the lemon starting tomorrow and pray to God that this is the answer. To be honest, I'm thinking about going back to the Shatavari and just dealing with the heavy bleeding. I just have to get rid of this discharge! Hope this helps someone. Good luck sisters!

Correction: I totally had the pH explanation backwards. The normal pH range of a healthy vagina is 3.5-4.5 roughly. Anything that elevates it (i.e. Sex bc of the semen, menstruation, and hormonal imbalances like menopause), can make one prone to bacterial vaginosis infections and yeast infections. Because my lemon water, although acidic, actually alkalinize the body, that might be leading to my imbalance. I'm still gonna see what happens when I stop all these lemons. Hope this cleared that explanation up.

Same! Going on almost two years. The GYN always says oooh this looks like a yeast infection or one time they said I had gonorrhea!!!!!!!!!! Naturally neither was true and nobody has been able to help me but it's clearly not just us, right? It's annoying.
